I am curious about the OnStar navigation. Do the visual directions show up in the DIC, the HUD, or where?
Ha! Visuals? Nope. Voice only. You'll be much better off to buy a $150 Garmin than pay for this service.
From their web site:
OnStar Turn-by-Turn Navigation is part of OnStar's award-winning Directions & Connections Plan. Through voice-guided directions, it can help you find your way to an address, business or practically any destination using our database of over 10 million points-of-interest. Stopping to ask for directions, fumbling with maps or printing out web directions are a thing of the past.
I have Nav in my car. I was just sniffing around OnStar since my service is due for renewal. I took a look at the navigation demo and it had voice and single line print out visual showing up on the vehicle's radio screen. I was just curious how it would be displayed in a Corvette. I am not necessarily thinking of subscribing to it.

What your asking is does Onstar download directions to your NAV unit.. Which then gives you the visual/voice. Someone with Directions and Connections and NAV would need to answer.
Thank god I didn't buy my vette brand new because I would have been very upset paying all the extra money for the NAV. I really thought it was like a GPS where you type in a address and it takes you right there by following the screen, also I thought it was able to play DVD movies while in park boy was I wrong on this unit ha!

The NAV does not play movies, but I don't understand your other comment about directions. When I type an address into my NAV unit, it provides voice & visual directions to get there. Isn't that what a NAV unit does?

I'm just learning all the ropes with my NAV. It's not as user friendly as the Garmin in my wife's car but once you get the hang of it you'll discover it's quite a powerful tool.

I agree same here, but you get guys on here ready to bash you if you say something wrong.

Actually that isn't what I am asking. Since I have NAv I really don't need OnStar's option. But what if I just had Bose and a 6 cd player? Where does the visual stuff get shown - on the DIC, radio screen, where, or maybe no where in the Corvette? Someone on this forum must have a subscription to this service.
At the risk of sounding like a wise a$$ it is normally done after hitting the Enter Destination button on the screen. It seems like you have not read any of the Navigation manual, so you would be wise to start there for the basics. If you for some reason don't have the manual, then go to the C6 FAQ sticky for a link to the PDF file for the manual.

I have the free onstar with the navigation option. I have no navigation unit. The onstar navigation is just verbal. There are no visable instructions. I have a Tom/Tom that runs circles around the onstar.

Press Menu/Enter destination. There are 2 pages of different ways to enter destinations. One thing that isn't pointed out in my manual is that you should always enter the city first if possible. This greatly reduces the number of possibilities it has to search through to find the street or POI you are looking for. Sometimes after entering the city first it only takes a couple of more characters and it pops up a list of the 5 or less possibilities. If you don't enter the city first, which sometimes with suburbs you don't know, you may have to type the entire name exactly the way it is is in the database (with very little help) before it can find it.
As suggested, read the manual and then dedicate an hour or so to playing with it. You will find it is a VERY powerful device that just doesn't get any respect because people won't take the time to learn how to use it.
