Just did mine a week ago. The switch has a clip on one side that needs to be pulled up in order to allow it to release. Its hard to find just by feeling. One side of the switch is flat, the other has the clip on it. To re-install, just push it back in and it will lock in place. Hope this helps.

That helped a lot, thank you! With your good description I was able to easily release the clip and get the wire off. Once you do that how do you get the switch out? I know it must be simple but for some reason I can't seem to get it. Thanks again!

Default Well that was easy...

A big thank you to firecop90conv for giving me the info on removing the switch. I was making it difficult when it is so simple when you know how. As he told me, after you remove the wire clip, feel around the bottom of the swich and there are little springs. Push them in as you push the switch down toward the license plate. It popped right out easy as pie! Thanks again firecop90conv for the assist!

I don't think it is supposed to fully open- only unlatch.

Mine just failed today. How long did it take the dealer to fix yours? I would try it myself but since it is still under warranty and there seems to be a chance of dropping something, I don't want to mess anything up.
