I have a 2005 C6 w/ 60K on it. A week ago the engine started to make a sickening grinding at 35 - 40 mph. I shut the car down and saw that there was red fluid spewing from the front of the crank case. Apparently the bolt that holds the balancer in place ran itself out and the balancer became totaly detached from the crank. GM says $6k to rebuild. Lucky I have a CPO and it is covered. WARNING: Check that bolt

If you have an early 05 there is a TSB on this issue. Do a search and you find many post about it.
Don't know what a CPO is but repair should be covered under an outstanding TSB if the car is in the first 11,039 05's built. Last 5 digits of vin is your number. See attachment.

A TSB is not a recall...repairs are not automatically covered just because a TSB was issued about the potential problem. A valid OEM or extended warranty should cover the repairs otherwise the repair's on you.

A Technical Service Bulletin is not a recall, and does not extend the warranty. If the vehicle is stock, I would hope the dealer would provide some goodwill.
