They did a article on this mornings local news warning people that NY state police are giving tickets for license plate frames which are illegal in NY. This includes dealer frames, custom frames etc!! Fines are $25dollars plus a $85 state surcharge! Guess that's one way of helping a State that is financially in trouble..

They're starting to enforce front plate laws in NH, which is why I finally caved and put the front plate on my 2009.

Anything for more state revenue at this point....

I guess with no front plate I may be saving money since they can not ticket me for illegal plate frame.

Yeah, this is true here in AZ. If the frame obscures any part of the plate such as numbers or the tax sticker, they will stop you. They are particularly fussy about covering the "Arizona" at the top of the plate. Been a few blurbs about a newly launched crack down. Like the LEOs in AZ can't tell it's and AZ plate. It's revenue-ing, pure and simple.

World hunger. The nations economy on the verge of collapse along with The Big Three, . . . . and now this license plate thing. Dang it.

They enforced the hell out of this in Tx. about a year ago, now it's died down.

The New York law is specific that it cannot cover either the "New York" at the top or the "Empire State". That's on any car or truck, not just Corvette. Actually, I think that's a national thing. Not just NY.

Knew you were not suppose to cover plate with anything even something clear but never heard of the frame law untill now... Walk thru any parking lot and here in NY and 9 out of ten cars will have a frame around the plate...

It was a big deal a while back, seems like most people overlook it for the most part now.

It's a tax, you don't know it, but it is. Pretty sad when you use the cops as a source of revenue, all this does is make the cops the bad guys, enforcing sh#t legislation that will add a few pennys to the state's coffers. Sad, but true.

They've been ridiculous lately. My dad got pulled over in Brooklyn twice in the last month. The last time they "forgot" to give him his license back and drove away with it.
