Default Difference between 05-07 vettes

I'm in the price range of purchasing a used vette between 05 and 07 and am curious about the differences and advantages to getting an 2006 over a 2005 or a 2007 over a 2006.
any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Ron H.

Ron,

One of the biggest value advantages of a 2007 over a 2005/6 would be the 100K powertrain warranty. This is not to be confused with the 3/36 bumper-to-bumper standard warranty, or any extended warranty that the original owner may have purchased.

All 2007 models with the optional F55 Magnetic Selective Ride Control suspension have the larger cross-drilled rotors and brakes from the Z51 package. They also have the less aggressive, less expensive and longer-lasting GS-2 run-flat tires that come with the base models.

Convertibles with the 3LT option package are all power tops in 2007. Power tops were an extra-cost option in 2005/6 models.

All models lost their under-hood trouble lights in 2007, and all come with the coveted GM chicklets not available with 2005/6 models.

The GPS antenna for NAV-equipped cars is in an ugly (I think) black wart on 2005 models. Those antennas were stealthily hidden inside the passenger side mirrors in 2006/7 models. 2007 NAV-equipped models get two free updates to the original NAV DVDs, while earlier models did not.

2005 models have A4 4-speed automatic transmissions, while 2006/7 models have 6-speed A6s.

There were initial year problems with harmonic balancers and rear differentials in 2005 models that should have been fixed under warranty.

There were some color changes every year, but for me VR is forever.

The steering wheel changed from 4-spokes to 3-spokes, I believe in 2006, and on-wheel radio controls were added in 2007.

You might try searching as have been many posts about this before. Here's the key things that I remember:
2005 manual transmissions had the "must shift into reverse when parked" "feature". Eliminated in 2006
2005- mid 2006 had older style tops which could delaminate - should be covered by safety recall
2006 added new 3 spoke steering wheel
Auto transmission went from 4 speed to 6 speed in 2006
Dead battery syndrome may have impacted 2005-2006. Reflash of cpu fixed most impacted cars
2007's got longer warranty - drivetrain coverage to 100k miles (5 years?)
2007 lost the underhood light and the rear hatch handle

The big changes were in '08.

(Looks like Eritosthenes has a much better list than mine... )

The 06 NAV got two disk upgrade. Also the suspension on the 06 was redesigned from 05. Chicklets came on 06.

Wow nice list thanks

Thanks everyone for the info.
I am mainly debating between 05 and 06 because of price. Probably 06 at this point unless I find a killer deal on an 07. The car i want is dark blue or dark red with M6 and Z51. Nav and hud is nice but not a necessity. I'm in the price range of around 24-28k depending on options, distance, etc ...

As a former 05 owner I would not buy another 05. The 07 would be my choice especially if you get the 6 speed auto; 07 was the 2nd year for that gear box.

How much can you spend? For $40,000 + T&L you can get a 2008, 1LT, Z51, NPP, QX1 car, brand new.

And I'm sure some 09 owners would never buy an 07 again!

I figured I shouldn't spend more than 25-28k unless the deal is too good to pass up. I was thinking of ordering a new Camaro but 37k with the options I want then tax, etc ... and its just too far out of reach. Besides I love the 05-09 Corvette looks. To be honest if I hit the 30-33 k mark on a used Vette I may as well get a 09 at 39ish If I can.

Ditto for me. My 05 MN6 base coupe w/1sb package (like the current 3lt package) has been trouble free. I've driven it to Florida and back and it performed extraordinarily well. I'm totally happy with it.
Luckily, my car was built late in the model year, so I was spared the hockey puck on the roof!
