My subscription expires 12/29 and received my renewal in the mail two weeks ago.
I'll wait for them to call, the 3 year deal works out to $110/year (only $43 more than the $77 rate).
I hear they also have a 4 and 5 year plan (similar to the former SIRIUS plans) the further reduces the cost.
I'm hoping the 5 year plan works out to near the $77 rate.
As far as Customer Treatment goes XM is a Joke except that its really not Funny. Its like they have no Standards and that whoever answers there phones can just wing it thru every phone call. We should all be told the same thing but for some reason we are all given different responses. Then when I e mail them, I dont get any response. With the merger, it has not gotten any better. With the poor reception that has come about during this last year I just dont know if its worth it anymore. When the BBB tells you that this is a company that they get a lot of complaints on, maybe we should all Listen. I still to this day dont understand how XM and Sirius were allowed to merge but Dish and Direct TV were not allowed to merge...

Reason: BBB mention
I got mine started saturday 12/06/08 for the 77.00 price. First told me it would be 88 dollars and change for the family plan,I also have it on my wifes SS Trailblazer.

They let the cat out of the bag. It all started my first renewal was 60 bucks, then two years at 77. Why on earth would I ever give them full price. My renewal month is May, I'll call them on the 1st and either get the 77 dollar rate or I'll cancel. I will cancel, it's not that good of a product and their service is awfuleddie
I've had XM several years. I called yesterday to add the vette to my account with my other two units. I wanted to switch one of the existing services to the vette. As soon as I said I want to drop one unit, the guy immediately transferred me. The guy did not even listen to what I was says. I had to go through the whole spill again I finally told the guy to cancel all of the radios. Ended up getting three month free and I was not looking for a hand out. I'll see what I'm going to do after three months!
Just yesterday, they offered me the $77 deal - passed, kicked em to the curb. Have them transfer you to the cancellation department, I'm sure they will offer you the deal.
I renewed for $77 last week. I called and went directly to the cancellation department. Told them I wanted to cancel. They offered me the 9.95 a month and I turned it down. I told them I just wanted to cancel. They asked why and I told them that the service wasn't worth more than the $77 I paid this past year and I really don't want it anymore. They offered me the $77 deal and I reluctantly agreed to it. Took just a few minutes, and only spoke to the one person in the cancellation department.
I called last week to activate my radio [pioneer tuner] and the guy offered me lifetime service for $399 so I did it and it is reflected on my account. I have had xm for years so this will save me money in the long run.

However I love the fact they can TOY with you and get away with it. I mean if they had to follow a standard script - we would know what buttons to push and get off cheap every time.
This is the first company where the "customer" is not always right.
I find it refreshing. Put yourself in an XM salespersons shoes for a minute. All these Corvette guys calling up demanding $77 or they are going to quit. What fun would that be? Atleast hanging up on you 50 percent of the time is fun. Then you call back get someone else and get the deal.
It's like they have one of those MAGIC 8 ***** sitting on the desk and it comes up "SORRY - YOUR NOT GOING TO LIKE THE ANSWER!!"

I think that lifetime deal is only on that one radio like it was for Sirius. If that radio breaks it's non transferable to another radio.
Called up a couple of weeks ago planning to cancel unless they offered the $77 dollar deal. Never got that far. When I told the saleslady I didn't think it was worth what I was paying for it ($379 for three years) she started offering the lifetime deal for $399. She finally wound up giving me credit for the 3 months I have used the service and giving me the lifetime for the $379. It is only good for the one vehicle and not transferable unless the vehicle is stolen or totaled out but I tend to keep my vehicles all around 8-10 years and will probably keep the Vette longer than that so I agreed to the deal. Amounts to a little over $3 per month on 10 years.
