If something happens to GM and warranty's are not an issue (with "performance" modding) any longer, who will take the plunge and what mod ('s) have you been wanting to do? Obviously, you'd still be on the hook, warranty or no warranty, if and when something bad happen's.
Hypothetically, if GM warrantys were no longer honored...those concerned about repair costs would have even greater cause not to mod. Keep in mind, these are the same group of people who are concerned about absorbing associated repair costs while the car is under warranty in the first place ~ absent a warranty, just eliminates the guess work or any hopes of GM backing repairs ~ they would be responsible for all repair costs. However, more importantly, I don't see GM warranty programs going by the way side anytime soon. Next big step for GM will be restructuring either under bridge-loan provisions or Chapter 11. Either way, IMO warrantys are not in jeopardy of a premature death at this point in time. The fate and/or future of GM is far from over...
There's a few things that I'd consider (from 4.11's, blown, FAST intake, ported FAST tb, for just a few) I even have a 36 month ew on my '07, so that's still a consideration for me.
I've never understood what the warranty has to do with people modding or not modding anyway. If you don't have warranty, and mod your car and something goes, you pay. If you do have a warranty and mod your car and something goes wrong, you pay. Seems to me that the math comes out the same.
I believe the question was for people who would like to mod but have not because they did not want to void their warranty.

Correct. Not that there wouldn't be $$$'s to pay if you did. Also, it seems that the most intrusive performance mods "not being covered" by dealers has just lately been established.
GM warranty isn't going anywhere. The world won't end if they go chapter 11. When the airlines went chapter 11, they continued to honor all plane tickets...
We all need to get off the "no warranty" bandwagon because its just needless inflammation of the situation. I hate to say it but there is more chance of the Corvette being discontinued than there is of GM abandoning its outstanding warranties. And I don't think they WILL discontinue the Corvette.
I think I am like others who have modded (engine) our cars the warranty was not an issue at least for me it wasn't. I wanted my car to be a certain way and I went ahead and did the mods. If my engine fails because of what I have done to it then I will more then likely build a better and stronger engine.
I have heard the mod vs warranty argument for a long time. I really do not know what the ultimate answer is, but coming from Illinois, I take the "pay to play" approach. I have done my mods, and if they take me out of warranty, so be it.
No, because I like the stock Vette as it is. I want it available and reliable. I also want any decent mechanic to be able to work on it. Mods are great but not for me.
I gave the warranty the "heave ho"! Good thing I know a lot of people.
Or self sufficient with one's own shop at his disposal. If I had "people", maybe a few things would have already been done when I was able. Of course too, some of the guy's on the forum are willing to make trips to other members for a small fee and/or traveling expenses (SpinMonster and a few others come to mind).
