Default Tire help

Hi,

My tires are just about Shot on the 08 Vert Z51. Problem is I'm unemployed and have a baby on the way so I really need tires, but need them as inexpensive as possible. Was wondering what my best options are? Obviously I can't use run flats I assume as they will be too expensive.

I think Kumho has the cheapest tires in the stock sizes. $132 each for fronts and $182 each for rears off of Tirerack.com.

You're driving a convertible sports car - if you want cheap tires you better get a Chevy S10 pickup or Ford Ranger 2WD. For those you can buy inexpensive tires. 18 / 19 inch wheels mean expensive tires. Reality.

Dang! My rear tires alone were over $800. Search TireRack.com maybe?

For a Vette, that IS cheap.

Remember that Vette tires are HUGE compared to the average car tire and are Z rated (high speed) too.

Check the "For Sale" section. You might be able to P/U a fairly new set of take-offs that some member is looking to get rid of in favor of another size or brand.

check also your favorite auction site, I have seen some almost like new tires going for under $100 apiece in your size even in runflats that were fairly new take offs, you might get lucky, I had purchased a set of new michelins for the front of mine for $250 shipped a few months back, nothing wrong with used tires just to get by for a while till your financial situation gets better, good luck and congrats on your new addition.

I'm sorry but it seems to me that you may have issues to address that are more important then tires.

Search used. I've got a set of RunFlats with less than 7k "easy" miles on them. I'd sell them cheap but they are attached to a set of rims and in storage. I was hoping to sell them together so that I wouldn't have to take them to the tire shop and be removed.

here's a shot.

I understand and no offense intended. I don't know your situation but with a baby on the way and unemployed my thoughts would not be on tires.

yea, mine neither, but I can't get to a job to work without tires, thats the problem. I even thought of selling the car, but with the way the market is for vehicles now, it just really doesn't make much sense.

can someone tell me if there is any equivalent size to 285 35 19 that will fit on the rear with the 245 40 18 fronts?

The fronts are relatively easy to find cheap, but no one has the rear tires, but if I could get like a 275 30 19, or some other measurement, I might be able to find it.

You could minimize your total overall cost from Tire Rack if you have the tires shipped to one of their recommended installers that offers reduced M&B. That could be a National Tire & Battery store near you (our local NTB does NOT do Corvettes). The TR web site has a search function for a recommended installer.
