Default Transparent Top

Ok...so I'm thinking about getting the transparent top for my '07. I live in Vegas so will probably only get to use it 3 - 4 months out of the year. I have a few questions: Do those of you have one really enjoy it??? Does the liner really work well in the summer months? Where would you suggest I get one...on the gm accessories store web site it's $1300.00. Thanks for the input...believe it or not before I purchase any mods I always run it by the forum first.

I love my transparent top. I don't have much to worry about up here in the north with it being too hot but in locations like yours, a lot of forum members use the liner and say it works well.

I put on the transparent top a week ago after going all summer with the body colored top and I'm enjoying it a great deal. I'm going to leave it on for the rest of the winter and then most likely will switch back for the summer months.

I had one in my C5 and really enjoyed using it in the winter months. During the summer the heat was not the issue so much as the sun's glare.

Our weather here in Phoenix is similar to yours . . .I use the lexan top from late September until April or May - --then use the painted roof through the real heat of the summer. It's a two minute process to change one to the other that you can almost be guided by the weather forecast.

There are any number of tops available in the "for sale" section of the forum - - the key is proper packing of the corners and if you do use a shipper like UPS or FedEx, make certain the corners are well padded and that you have a clear understanding of what is/isn't covered should you need to make a claim.

Good luck !

I like the transparent roof. I did not get the dual roof option. If I had, I doubt that I would ever use the painted roof. I like the looks of the transparent roof, and I like the light I get through the roof and the visability.

I bought one and never put the painted top back on. I don't think I would get one if I lived in a "high sunshine" location because of the issue that people in Florida and Arizona complain about.

I have both and will never put the painted one on again. I don't have a liner, and it doesn't cook me here in the S.F. Bay area. My liners for my 2001 Camaro were never used either. The Corvette's top tint blocks more sun than the Camaro tops did. Get it, you'll love it.

I own an 08, live in Gerogia and only have the transparent top. I love the appearence and use a liner in the summer months as it can get darn warm inside the gar without it. In the winter, Nov to Apr, I remove the liner and enjoy the sunshine.

I love the transparent top and prefer it over the painted one but mine is making creaking noises right now. The latches have been replaced and it has been lubed up real good. Painted top is silent. I think the transparent top might be bad on my car. The shades are great for the transparent top. They are real good for when you park the car. The transparent top makes the Vette's interior feel bigger than it actually is.

I have both tops however I seldom run with the painted one on the car. I do leave a "solar sun shade" on which helps in the summer. I think? I bought the shade at Mid-America.

Also the transparent top will give you an extra inch or so of headroom.

Until recently, I had only the transparent top. I use the DSVettes headliner in the summer and have never had any difficulty with heat. The DSV headliner looks as if it came from the factory, actually a bit better. We usually get at least one week of 100 degree weather here. I obtained another transparent top that had been damaged. I had it painted the body color for style purposes only (frivolous pleasure).
