Odd...
The C5 badges are cheap looking plastic where as the C6 badge looks a little more classy. Given that, I suppose there is a chance that the owner just liked the look of the C6 badge better. The bottom line is I would not call him a "poser". It's not like the badges say C6, C5, 400HP or anything... It's just another version of the bow tie
....That is exactly what I was going to say.......maybe he just likes the newer flags better........what's the big deal to that?? They are much better looking that the C5 plastic black ones......and not nearly as bad to do to his car as some of the other "badging issues" that have been beat to death here........
Sounds like a good idea to me. It's not like there's a badge for each car that reads "C5" or "C6".
Crossed flags is crossed flags. All they represent is the fact that it is a Corvette. If the guy wants to take styling cues from newer vettes, like their emblems, who cares? I think it's clever, and would be a neat, subtle custom touch for a couple-year-old Vette.
Man, some of you guys are either just elitists, or have no sense of creativity.

It is a pretty tough place to live though because we have to suffer with bright, sunny, 70+ days about 300+ days a year. I picked up a pretty good sunburn this morning...
BTW, the C5 was spotted up in Escondido.

The difference between the C5 and C6 crossed flag emblems, however, is more subtle...the guy using the C6 crossed flags emblem (on the C5) may not have known or even noticed there was a difference.

Man, some folks here get it, and others are just clueless. Some act as if they're motoring about in priceless vintage Ferarris. Those folks need to get over themselves. Our cars arent any more special than any of the 500 Escalades or King Ranch F-350s we see every day that sticker for the same $50k+ as our Corvettes.
For the guy that called lowering the car "ricer", are you for real? Yes, I'm sure every street legal Corvette to ever place at a HPDE or AutoX day was on stock height suspension. You know, because lowering the vehicle serves no performance advantage.

And yeah, replacing a C5's crossed flags with those of a C6 gen set is the i d e n t i c a l concept to replacing a C5's wheels with a C6 gen set. Serves no tangible performance advantage, it's purely aesthetics by way of updating styling cues to more modern designs.
Does that mean we should ridicule that C5 owner for "not being able to afford the real thing" ? Give me a break. You can get C6's for $27k, or about the same as a mid-level Nissan Maxima off the lot. And there are many a C5 owner out there who's salaries far eclipse this C6 owner's $65k yearly salary. It has nothing to do with "not being able to afford the real thing" and everything to do with being content with what you have via personalizing it to your delight.

It would be cool to see what the reaction would be to sticking a "King Ranch F-350" badge on a Z06 though.
Most people don't know the difference - they just see Corvette
I took what you said to mean he was swapping out the C5 badges with the C6 ones, as opposed to just adding more right next to the old ones... which is a something I'd scratch my head over.
