I'm considering getting CCWs (SP18) and was going to get OEM sizes but they mentioned I should consider getting 18X9.5 and 19X11 and putting 275 and 305 tires on them. It would be nice to have wider tires since I have 460 rwhp, but part of me says to stick with OEM sizes. Has anyone gotten those sizes and how do they fit? Pics would be super as well.
Thanks.
CCW advised me that 9.5 wide fronts were the widest that would clear Z06 Brakes and still stay under the fender.
Before I decided to add the wide rear fenders I considered 11" wide rears w/325's but was told by several tire shops (Forum Vendors and Local) that they could not get them to mount. Although clearly, it can be done.
Pay attention to the front-to-rear diameter relationship. Active Handling can be adversely affected if the ratio is too far off. Tire Rack is a great reference source for tire diameters.
Personally, I would avoid going to any aspect ratio smaller than 30 as the ride gets pretty harsh even with the F55 suspension. But I'm old.
Hey Eric, can't believe you're still looking for wheels, did you get your others sold yet? Anyway, here is my 19X9.5 and 20X11 combo. I'm running 275/30/19 -Front and 305/25/20 -Rear w/no issues. Get the bigger combo, you'll like the the look and performance better.
IMO go with the wider sizes. For street driving I use CCW wheels 9.5” x 18” front - 11” x 19” rear with Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar EMT’s...275/35ZR18 front - 325/30ZR19 rear (stock Z06 tires). You could go with 10" wide front wheels as well.
I was traction challenged on the OEM C6 wheels/tires and going to the Z06 sized supercar tires made an improvement. Your car will grip better under acceleration and braking and it will handle and 'track' better through the curves. I felt the larger wheels and tires helped soak-up small chatter bumps (like expansion joints on a curve) better too. If you have any future plans to go to a big brake setup, talk with John (at CCW) first as it will affect wheel selection.
The rear Z06 tires protrude just slightly from the rear body panels but it's truly negligible. I wouldn't have any hesitation...it's a good move!
