Ipod Interface Install

The interface consists of the actual module, wiring harness and interface/charger cable.

BTW this stuff really looks high tech, was packaged extremely well and has some good documentation. Looks like the mfg did their homework with this gear. I'm also buying a separate docking station that will allow me to simple insert the Ipod into it. No fussing with cables, etc because everything will be pre-wired. I'm very AR when it comes to keeping the interior nice and neat. Don't want a bunch of wires and velcro tie downs etc. Plug and play is my idea if this thing is going to be worth having.
Because my Ipod is the "NEW" 2nd Gen Ipod Touch I had to buy (separately) a different interface cable in order to CHARGE it while driving the car. Apparently Apple CHANGED the way the 2nd Gen is charged (swines) hence another cable was required. If I had a 1st Gen Touch the cable is included in the interface module...
Guess that's the price of new technology.

The entire setup cost me 185.00 including shipping. With several thousands songs on my Ipod I think it's inexpensive if I can get the unit to work as claimed. We shall see said the blind man....

My question for members is this! I'd be happy to document the install procedure (pics, etc) if anyone is really interested. I'd guess it's pretty much the same install procedure with or without Nav. I only posted here to see if there was an interest in documenting the install and the results.
I would then post all the technical information in the Audio Tech section. Perhaps this is simply old hat to most and if so I'll simply labor in obscurity installing it and save the band width!
If however some members are interested let me know and I'll try to throughly document everything regarding the install including how it operates (or doesn't) in the car. BTW.. my vette is 06 but I believe nothing has really changed from 05 to 09 regarding this setup......

Also, where do you hook into your radio? If it hooks into the normal connector on the back of the radio, it may work on the base head unit. If it hooks into the XM, then it won't. If it hooks into the auxiliary plug on the back of the head unit, it may work if you get the base radio reprogrammed using a Tech 2.

as I have heard others complain about. The steering wheel and radio controls all work just as you would expect. So I found a charger adaptor for 25.00 and now it charges ok, but my radio display no longer shows whats playing or track number nothing, go figure. So I traded song and track info for a charge. All in all more trouble than it's worth.

Funny as they advertise this thing along with an HD radio add-on, but couldn't answer my questions about how it actually works.
I had a feeling it wasn't going to work since they seemed lost about installation and function, but had the sales pitch down.
All in all, a bummer for me and a product that, since it is new, will obviously need several revisions before it becomes successful on the market imo.

I'll report the results after it's installed.....
