I have a 2008 vette, so my guess is that I have the v4.0 version. It states that I get 2 free upgrades. Do they just send it or do I still have to order? Thanks.
Where does it state that as a 2008 Vette owner that you get 2 free upgrades? I though that 2007 was the last year for Vette owners to get free updated nav discs.
Just to add, the version number is also located on the spine of the DVD box. Latest version is 5.00.
Thanks Talon90 - always great information

I believe that you are correct. My coworker has a 2007 3LT and has 2 free upgrades. I have a 2008 3LT and "no" free upgrades. Have both of our build sheets and it's on his but not mine.
Are the two discs separated by West and East Coast? Since I can only load one disc at a time, I would have to guess that is so. In that case, as I primarily drive in the West Coast, could I just use the one disc?

That is correct. There is an East coast disc and a west coast disc. They are only different in the points of interest detail that is covered by each disc. You would only need to use the west coast disc for your travel around the local area. There is also quite a bit more detail on the westcoast disc but still some overlap between the two. Here is the breakout of the east and west coast disc.

2005 = no free upgrades
2006 - 2007, two free upgrades.
2008 - 2009, no free upgrades.
I live in Kentucky, travel occasionally to Missouri to visit the daughter and grandkids. If someone has gotten the two disc upgrade and wants to sell either the east or west version 5 for a reasonable amount I would be very interested. PM me if interested.

Need to call them by Dec 31,2009 to get your next upgrade
I called GM nav division and they told me there are no free upgrades for the 2008.They also told me they send out upgrade for bugs in the Nav system! anyone know anything about this?I called my dealer and they didn't know anything, sent me to the parts dept.. also if anyone has the new 2009 DVD can you PM me please...
Why does owners with Nav. have such a problem getting the latest version? & why do they need the "Latest & greatest version....
Do you guys drive on that many new unknown roads etc.. I don't have Nav & for under $300 I got the top of the line Magellan,, I can just ask it my location & it will ..TELL me.. or ask "Distance to Destination, or to Restaurant, and it tells me.
I have gone on NEW roads (developments) and it found its way around them just fine..
So for app $300 I have a GPS that will take me anywhere in any of my cars, no glitch's, talks to me if I ask a question, and I don't have to spend $$ to update it ...
Where am I going wrong.. + I have a 6 CD player..is the GM version THAT much better ?
Took car to the dealer regarding Nav, I was advised that for 2 large I could get an Nav. disc update, I advised him that I was entitled to two free upgrades, I find it quite strange that my 2007 car came with a 2005 Nav. disk. I was told they would order me a disk, I contacted them days later and asked the status of my disk, I was told I had to order it they couldn't good thing I called them, talking about counter productive, I called the number and was informed that the 2009 disk was on back order expected time frame 3 weeks, I'm glad I'm not heading across country. and so it goes.
