Update: Dealer replaced driver's door speaker. No difference; no surprise to me. We agreed they would continue to try to fix. I believe they are going to call to some central tech help. I did hear some of the noise in the passenger's door speaker as I was demonstrating the noise with the radio on ... I had previously thought possibly left door speaker only.
The dealer (largest Corvette dealer in North Jersey) said that wouldn't fix it. The initial service writer acknowledged the problem but then the lead service man got involved. He said that he didn't think he could justify using GM's money to throw parts at it. My real beef is the noise when the radio is on. At modest volume levels, driving down the road, the noise is about as loud as the radio signal. It has got to be either an amp or the way the DIC noises/etc are interfaced into the system. No way it is the head unit. I went upstairs to the Corvette showroom and got the fob to an '09 with Bose (but also with NAV unlike mine) and the radio had no such noise.

The dealer (#2) worked with some central tech area... and per tech's instructions, they are overnighting a new amplifier in... will update tomorrow. Now I think this a good chance of being a fix.
I discovered the "feature" of console, beeps and DIC tones going through the car stereo after I had my Pioneer AVIC installed. There is a separate amplifier control for the beep volume inside the stereo. It sounds like the control wire on the back of the radio for this "feature" may be loose, or a ground for that amplifier went funky...
My guess anyway. New amplifier may fix, but if not, I would check for a bad wire in the stereo connection harness...

They received the new amplifier and it was not a fix. They are continuing to work with the GM tech people. They asked me to verify that I didn't have any aftermarket electronic equipment.. I presume they are going to be checking grounds, clean power, etc.

When you refer to a separate amplifier control above - you mean in the stock radio or in the Pioneer? If the former, then maybe that head unit is going to have come out after all...

Checking grounds didn't yield anything. Gm tech is having them pull various modules on the theory that possibly one is backfeeding, causing the noise. (Monday)
It's normal, if you want to call it that, I can notice it because I keep my stereo very loud and if I am in between songs I can notice it.
I do think it is in a number of cars.. but the one new '09 Vette I checked didn't have it. With the car off (accessory mode), can you hear it with the radio on the first or second volume 'click' ? At that volume level, the ticking/noise is louder than the radio signal.

GM tech finally had the dealer change the head unit/radio. No change. They had checked an '09 (they believe a coupe) right after I had dropped the car and observed no noise issue. After they changed out the radio, they tested two in stock '09 convertibles and they have the same noise/issue that my car has. Gm tech believes there could be an issue specifically with convertibles in regard to the antennae location. I'm going to pick up the car dn supposedly GM tech is going to work on the issue on their own. (I didn't verify, but this must mean that GM tech has verified the problem in a car themselves)
