I've be showing my '05 for over three years. It came with the comp. gray wheels. I wanted a DSOM Vette, found a dealer on the internet that had one and bought it over the telephone (sight unseen). Went to pick it up and surprise, surprise, comp. gray wheels. I didn't even know GM made CG wheels for Vettes. I was not taken with them at first, but after several days and replacing the painted roof with the smoked transparent one, it all came together, and at that time they were an attention getter.
Well, as most of us, we are never 100% satisfied with leaving things as is on our Vettes, I was at Carlisle this fall and saw a set of black chrome. Being the type of person I am and wanting something different from other Vettes (the comp gray were in '05), I purchased the black chrome.
For now I'm enjoying the change. I have to to justify spending the money for the black chrome. In either case you can't go wrong, after all it is a Vette.
IMHO. Don't justify your way out of an LS3, if that's what you want. If you want a Z06, buy one. Lots of guys on here buy what they don't want and try to make it like what they do.
You can certainly make an LS2 perform like an LS3, or probably ZR1 if you really want. However, you are going to spend a ton of money and make your car worth less.
Exactly my thought but in 2005 this was a late option $295 and wasn't available when I took delivery of my car. Now at over $600 a piece they aren't worth that but at $295 factory option for all 4 they are worth the less maintenance.
