Good move. Even if there was a bankruptcy, I can't imagine a bankruptcy court letting GM or its subsidiaries off the hook on warranties. Zero deductible is a good idea. It may cost a little more, but the $100 deductible I'm paying for every minor repair is a real PITA.
I'm sure you will be fine. I bought one too from Fichtner. I would rather have it than be without it. You will hear both sides of the story on here. All that matters is, that if you feel better about your decision then be happy with it. If your car breaks down do you think the guy who told you not to get GMPP will pay your repairs?

Is it true that dealers have latitude on the price (i.e. price it competitively) and that I might live in Mississippi, but could purchase the warranty from any Chevy dealer? Thanks.

Yes, you can purchase GMPP from any GM Dealer. Some states are governed by insurance laws that prohibit a dealer from lowering the price of the policy. Not good for us consumers. Some dealers are greedy and want to make big bucks on a policy. Fichtner Chevrolet is a Forum member and Dennis Fichtner is a stand up guy. Best price on GMPP. Don't look any further.
$1436.00 Total --- ADDITIONAL 60 Months YEAR (2014) AND ADDITIONAL 40,000 Miles.
I'm not concerned about the miles since it's a low milage car. I'm buying the time- extra 5 years full warranty. ZERO DEDUCTIBLE. Fully transferable if sell car (great selling feature) and proratible if I cancell. Good deal
