You dont wanna have to replace that glass. Its crazy expensive. Buy glass polish / compound.

that headlight stuff is really rubbing compound..... it is not effective on glass. You need a compound made specifically for glass. I would look for somebody that repaired auto glass chips, they can sometimes get scratches out too.

Zaino makes a glass polish that's excellent. Years ago the wife closed the garage door a Honda thinking she was hitting the sunroof button. It hit the back window (wooden door with metal brackets on the bottom) and it left a deep 3 or 4 inch scratch. Polished it with Zaino glass polish 3 time by hand. On the 3rd pass I couldn't find it to continue. Great stuff.

Toothpaste has a fine abrasive content in it. I've also heard it recommended for taking scratches out of CDs.

Hi,

Very sorry for your mishap, however please bear in mind that the windshield has a special surface for the HUD so that you can see the reflection.

Polishing the windshield may possibly remove that special coating and therefore result in poor HUD viewing.

Please consider seriously what you are about to do.

A reduction of the special coating should be considered, but it's not an automatic decision not to try polishing the scratches out. We have had members that have added a HUD to a C6 without the special coating and had a usable image from the HUD. Scratches on the windshield can cause glare in the right conditions which can be a safety issue.

It depends on how distracting the scratches are weighed against the need for the HUD to have the best possible image quality. In some cases, it could be worth losing the coating to keep from having a good view out of the windshield.

Anyone considering using a polish to remove scratches will need to decide if getting rid of scratches is worth a loss or reduction of the special coating based on their needs and the severity of the scratches.

I did not think about a coating on the windshield,it's not that bad,so maybe i will leave them there for now because i keep my HUD on all the time....Thank You Gentleman for the inputs.
