Default Trunk Lock Assembly Missing

Hey Guys,

So, i just got this C6 and i just got the keys for the trunk release, and well, there is no release assembly above the rear license plate to get into my car if it doesnt have any power.
I took off the rear lights and found the pull wire to open the trunk, but does anyone know where i can get a replacement release/key set, a part number or any ideas would be appreciated.

The part im referring to is the release mechanism above the license plate, where you can put a key in it to open the trunk, that particular mechanism is missing. So if my car were to lose power, i have no way to get in.

Its 05 coupe nav, hud, z51

Please help me out.

Thanks in advance.

That is a Chevy part, you will need to get the missing parts from a dealer's parts counter.

Chris - it appears that you will need - at the very least - the parts listed below:

http://www.gmpartshouseusa.com/partl...layCatalogid=0

I would advise you to call Gene Culley (GMPartsHouse.com) at 610-862-0550 (Ext. 172)
and explain your situation to him and he will be able to help you out.

Hope this helps!

That switch assembly is critically important to the car. Not only does it open the trunk but its also the start of the fob programming for the car.

Thats very strange, wonder why someone would remove that lock. I know that it does not just unbolt, special screws or nuts if I remember correctly, I think you have to drill the studs to get it out.

i wish i could tell you as to why it was removed, unfortunately i cant. I just want to get it fixed and get another fob programmed for it. I think i could still program the fob by just pulling on the wire to simulate the turning of the key. Thanks for the help, i never thought to look at the rear lock, lesson learned i suppose

I see the temp IL plate on the back and the D&M Motorsports frame. What did they say about it? Is it too much to expect all factory installed parts to be part of the package?

I havent even contacted them, they will say the car was sold "as is" It didnt come with the nav disks (i downloaded v5) or floormats either. The car made its "rounds" you could say. It was first at CarSource, then PremierAutoHaus, then D&M. Apparently the owners trade cars often and stuff they were telling me how the cars are all top notch, but not this one. I dont even know if i should waste my time or frustration with this at them, i already feel its a lost cause. Although i do have the cars previous owners address in the nav, maybe i should pay him a visit, he was from blue island, IL and with the name "navy".

I dont think id recommend any of the car dealers to anyone. But i did get a good price on it, at least i think, but now im paying for everything missing aka this lock.

Looks like you are also missing the electrical hatch release switch. Can you tell if the rear has been replaced and they just got cheap and didn't bother with the key lock and electrical release button or could they have been damaged while being stolen and never replaced? In any case, this could get expensive. Good luck.

FortMorgan dont be telling me that already, that its going to be expensive, its only the lock mechanism that i need, everything else works and is there so new lock cylinder and key im hoping.
The release button doesnt work either, but i really dont care about that, i think its just missing a spring or something to conduct the power when its pressed. Everything is there on the electrical side, just something in the "button" is missing. I hope it doesnt get too expensive, i cant tell if the rear has been replaced or anything, nothing looks out of place to my eye at least...

The car was probably re-possessed therefore they didn't get the fobs or key and the only way to get into it would be to extract that lock.

The cylinder and push button are one unit or at least sold as one unit. Gene at www.partshouse.com has it for about 150.00 plus shipping. You may want to put a WTB on the For Sale section. I just sold one recently and someone may have one laying around.

I wouldn't let the small things stress you out too easily or the big items will really get you like when it's time to wax the car which should be about now. Have you priced rejex yet?

BTW where did you download v5 from?

Hi Robert

Yeah, I saw this thread and was thinking of you. I got the one you sent me with the latch assembly when I put the auto pull-down latch on my Z06.

However, the OP has a coupe and the key lock cylinder I have left over will only work on a manual latch that is found on a convertible or a 2006-2008 Z06, so it won't work on his car.

Don't sweat the hatch switch it's only like 20 bucks just order it from Gene at the same time you order the mechanical lock and bracket.
