Hello, my name is Fred, and I'm a Corvette owner.
I haven't purchased anything for it in 14 days.
Thanks for listening, I feel better now.

I know how you feel. I owned a '93 300ZX and still own a '05 350Z, and was crazy about mods, especially with the '93. When I was in the market for a new car, I decided on the Corvette because I thought is was one of the coolest cars in it's stock form (great styling and plenty of power).
About a week after owning, I started looking to see what mods were available.

If you're spending more than you can afford or even if the mod money would be better spent reducing existing personal debt, then you have a problem. I recall one forum member made extensive and expensive modifications, including repainting his entire car and saying he financed everything (long term) on his credit cards.

[QUOTE=Atomic Autosports;1568840689]We should start a thread that shows everyone where this obsession has gotten us all..
Nice. I assume two of those gauges are boost and fuel pressure; if correct, what's your 3rd gauge?
I only have a boost gauge LPE installed (riveted) on the A pillar. I was thinking of a 2 gauge A pillar pod so as to add a fuel pressure gauge (I guess that one needs electrical wiring). I've seen A pillar gauge pods that come with Autometer gauges, but since I already have a boost gauge, why buy another (also noted mine has 2 scales of numbers - vac on the left, press on the right).

is buying corvette accessories a "Sickness"
There are some out there who don't believe me on How many Vettes I have had...Again I REPEAT--they are Welcome to come to my House---I have most of the Folders available on those Purchases dating back to 1965....By the way I am sure there are People out there who have had more..........
I have NEVER Bought any Corvette with Credit except for one ZO6 --that Kerbeck sold me in-- I Think 2003 when they came out with 0% Financing...I took a $10,000 Loan and then Proceeded to pay it all off one month later......Its always been my Philosophy that Credit catches up to you sooner or later so I don't buy if I can't pay......
My father ,may he rest in Peace , got into Serious Trouble because of Credit and Created his own Small Ponzie Scheme that my Family had to Deal with for 3 Years.....So Since 1979 I went on my own became somewhat Successfull and live in Comfort with the HOPE that the Entire Market does not Crumble....Like I have said before I think this Year Could really get Messy and CASH is the only Friend....So I to am Busy Selling and Divesting my Portfolio.....Harvey

I think it is definitely a form of mental illness. My brain is constantly (at least several times throughout the day) thinking about what I want to do next to my Corvette. Powdercoated brake calipers, upgraded seats for more lateral support, porting & polishing the heads/intake, etc. I do a little bit at a time as I can afford to pay cash for.
As long as you are spending within your means (and hopefully not having to hide it from your spouse, although I have been guilty of that before), it's a sickness but not a problem.
