A market is defined as "when a buyer and seller agree on price". Let's face it... this is a buyer's market.
Stealing or robbing is the taking by force, or otherwise, property without the effective consent of the owner. It is your choice as to whether or not you want to accept or reject an offer on your car.
This website has its drawbacks as the audience is much more informed and in tune with the latest trends and values, so it is generally harder to sell a car at KBB prices. By the way, KBB is generally not used as a guidline by a lot of the dealers, as the prices listed are so far off-the-mark. They look at what goes through the Manheim Auction and determine from that point,if not, then they determine the price using other sources. I have trashed the KBB, as this book gives prices way beyond the "real world".
The opinion I gave here was strictly based on the total mathematics involved between a used 06 and a new 08.
These vettes, unlike in the past, are dropping in price monthly and, in some cases, by a substantial margin(Z06)...the market is currently flooded with these cars.
By the way, the car that is in "question" has a starting bid of $38,000.00 without the reserve being met, it is dark blue. I suspect the dealer has around $42,000.00- $44,000.00 into it.
Hope this somewhat gives you some insight and ,if it makes you feel better, I am an American too and a retired LEO, also.
Take care and keep that blood pressure in check, the market will calm down one day.

Any person can talk about stealing it, but the pendulum swings both ways, always has. This has been a lead balloon around the dealer's neck and they've waited too long. Now, they've finally decided to unload it.
It is now 5 model years' old. I think you know what it is really worth, and they do, too. It's worth just a little over wholesale because it's not a Ferrari or P-car, and no one's buying now, anything. Even Penske's sales figures are down something like 30%, and he's certainly one of the smartest in the car biz, or any biz.
Act accordingly, or get something else.
It was'nt until I took it into a dealership in Lewisville for service that I found out that this was the same dealership that $5600.00 worth of work had been done to it invoving an an accident, paid by Farmers Insurance.
To make a long story very short, it took a Deceptive Trade Practice suit against the manufacturer and the dealer in the DFW area to recover my money. The car was advertised as "Certified" but it was not and they refuse to honor a 3 day return policy.
Be very careful who you are dealing with and always check the BBB for starters and NEVER, NEVER rely soley on any Carfax, Experian, etc. reports.
Also, do not think if it happens in Texas that TXDOT will help... most of their investigators are fat,washed-up Austin PD or small-town ex-police. The dealership forged papers to support its side and TXDOT did absolutely nothing. TXDOT's attorneys did not fair any better, dumb and dumber.

Congrats, I feel the same!!! My 08/Vert is my last! Way
got what I want and need, drive on!!!
You just have to make sure that you are not upside down so bad that you can at least "bail out" if the conditions demand such.
The 0% and 1.9% per cent is great but you have to remember that you are still buying a car that is 2 model years old. It's great and not that great at the same time.

And for $43K for an '06, either they know their market (customers) very well----which doesn't seem to be the case since it's been sitting there since '05/'06, or they just don't give a darn when it sells---which also seems to be obvious.

Wonder why it hasn't sold
It is the exact Vette that I wanted Color, options bla bla.
The dealers dont budge on new verts in california. The new 08's were stickered at 62K. I would never buy a used performance car. This car has been bullitproof. Walked in bought and drove out in 1 hour.

Only wanted to know what the car is worth.
