Default Latch question

Guys and gals forgive me for being dumb but I need some help. I traded my C5 for a 2006 C6 last Monday. I have found most of the answers in my manual but two (so far) I have not.

1. Just to the right of the mirror under where the visor snaps is a small orange or red light. Last night the light came on and there is a rattle in that area. Is this a warning light that the latch is not fastened good. The roof is tight and I have unlatched and re-latched it 4-5 times but it is still on. It did go off a time or two last night but came back on.

2. Is the unit attached to the windshield at the top of the windshield, just to the right of the mirror part of the nav. or OnStar system?

Thank you.

1. 2006 owner's manual, page 3-20. It's not a warning light.
An ambient light is located in the passenger sun visor
clip. This light stays on while driving to keep the
cabin from being too dark.
2. OnStar antenna.

You're welcome.

I thought the C5 had a similar light, but I never had one. Don't remember if my C4 had one or not.

Your rattle is likely a common problem with the tops. There is an e-clip fix posted here (I'll find it and add a link to this post) and new handles have been designed by GM to take care of the problem (there's a TSB on this). If you're car is still under warranty the handles should be covered. If the car is not under warranty the handles are very simple to replace yourself.

Here's the sticky post on the rattle problem.....
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-c...long-post.html

The above post has links to both the e-clip fix and the handle replacement TSB. The handle replacement seems to be the most successful long-term.

Yes, your C4s had the light, as did C5s and early C6s. All my C4s (89, 91, 94, 95) had them......
