So I hit a pothole the other day and my 2 front rims are bent. They are the stock chrome rims from a '07 coupe , standard. Trying to find some replacements for a decent price. So far i've been quoted $700+ per rim for new and $300+ for reconditioned. Seems like a bit much to me. Any suggestions or help would be appreciated.
Well you're off to a good start. There may be someone here who is selling those wheels. If you haven't already done it, check in the C6 Parts/Sale forum. Might be some there. Depending on your time crunch just keep checking, could also post a request in there too. Good luck.

Check with your insurance agent. I think those bent rims are covered by your comprehensive coverage. If so, then you're only out your deductable no matter which way you go.
I busted a couple of rims on a BMW once hitting a chunck of concrete that had fallen onto the highway and the insurance covered the cost of replacement rims.
Be careful. If you hit hard enough to bend the rims, your tires are probably damaged. Have them checked out by a qualified tech. I would just replace them if I were you.

From one Michigander to another...
MICHIGAN ROADS SUCK!!! Especially in the greater Detroit area!!! Avoid roads with potholes! I know that's difficult living in this area of Michigan, but look out! Vettes were not meant to be driven through potholes!
That's why my DD is a TrailBlazer...

One pothole took out both front rims, that is one big pothole!!! Maybe it should have been called a pot-trench. Of course being from Michigan, I too have lost two rims on one pothole, but they were front and back passenger.
I remember the sales manager trying to sell me extended warranty blahblah when I picked up my car. (The way he presented it was pretty sleazy--done in such a way that made it seem as though I had no choice, but that's an aside) I did get wheel insurance, which theoretically covers any damage to the wheel for some pittance, like a $50 deductible, including replacement wheels, for the lifetime of the car. Was this a dealer specifice deal, or is this a Chevy/vette offer from GM? I hope I never need it. Michigan road crew budgets are down 30% from 2 years ago--and it was bad then.
Check also the State's department of transportation site (or equivalent) for a tort claim form. There are no guarantees, but in general, if the road surface defect has been there long enough for the state to have taken corrective action, and instead they ignored it, you can file a claim with the state and perhaps the state will cover the repair/replacement. You'll need to tell them exactly where the incident happened, describe in detail the hole (pictures are better), and include a couple repair estimates. If on the other hand the hole is one of those that cropped up very recently from a freeze/thaw cycle, you may well be out of luck. There's usually a 'safe harbor' for situations that are beyond the ability of the state to control. Last year I lost a wheel and tire in Interstate 94 in Indiana during the summer. Dumbbells cut a hole in a traffic lane for some reason, then filled it with asphalt. Well, in summer asphalt softens and squishes out. It left a good sized hole with a piece of rebar sticking out. I took a series of pictures, submitted the whole shebang with a tort claim form I downloaded from the Indiana DOT site. Had to send a couple of letters, but eventually collected the entire $1150 replacement cost. Best of luck with this.
I wouldn't even bother with insurance because only a few things will happen. They'll cover it but screw you later. It will most likely be a collision claim since you hit something. If it is comprehensive they may determine you are a bigger risk and raise your rates.
I would go after your DOT or county for letting the road get in that bad of shape. We had some good craters on the road by my house until people started to call threatening about DOT paying for a new rim.
This might be a good time to go aftermarket since you should be able to find a decent set of rims for that price.
Go find the thread on "Should I buy wheel insurance" and tell them that it's a good idea.
I'd go to the FS section and find some used ones.
I did a search on it--issue seems a bit polarized. It did remind me that if I make a claim, it has to be that I hit a pothole or foreign object. So curb=pothole, deer=pothole. I don't know how much I paid, but it did'nt seem like alot. Maybe I should re-read that paperwork...
