I have two computer based camera systems now. One at our business and one at home. They have helped out a lot and stop people when they know they are there. I feel they have paid for themselves. www.palmvid.com

Motion lights and a small survellience system. I live in a very expensive Gated condo complex, but the population outside the gate is of the worst variety. Occassionally some get in somehow "drug houses". Fortunately I have a govt car and the last time one of those types made movements consistant with a felony act they were looking at an AR with Eotec sights and me in black BDU's and Ballistic outer vest carrier. He left in a local car with an att auto theft charge and possession of Burglary tools. Those types prey on fear. Move the cars into the garage, but it might also help to have a casual talk with the neighbors about what happened and see if they saw anything. Let them know you are concerned and will be responding appropriately. The security systems on our cars is pretty good. Way better than most.

You can get a nice little DVR Camera for about $100 that plugs into your cigarette lighter and records for about 5 hrs straight on the internal memory. Just put a regular digital camera memory card (SD Card) in and record longer. Next time someone messes with the car just plug it into your computer and fast forward til you find the guy.

Anyway I'd throw a keg party and invite them over.

If the HOA allows security devices a camera and a notification in your winodw should do the trick.

We plan to go over to the neighbors and ask them if they saw anything. And I will make sure I impress on them that I am taking "appropriate measures to see that this never, EVER happens again" without telling them what those measures are. And I will make sure I will tell them in earshot of their loser kids. We will maybe get a security camera; I don't think they're in the bylaws so it should be okay.
Finally, though we do have a gun, it's old and small. We're gonna buy us a nice 9mm, a Glock, I think. One of my former boyfriends was a gun collector, and through him I learned a lot about guns--different types and how to shoot. I'm a pretty good shot, too. These kids really don't know who they are screwing with. They need to leave us and our property alone. And yes, I love the idea of cleaning the gun outside for them to see. I'll be doing that myself; and I'll even park both our cars on the street so they will have full view of me sitting on my front porch cleaning my big, shiny, new gun.

It doesn't sound like your neighbors are sophisticated enough to enter both cars without damage or setting off an alarm. I would bet neither car was locked.

Make sure you're careful about the local laws and cleaning the gun outside. My neighbors would go nuts and call the SWAT team on me probably. The HOA here sucks and they complain about everything.
I'm sure if you talk to the neighbors around the kids, the kids would probably take that as an invitation to try something else. Young people like me tend to get a little brash at times....
Just get rid of the cat and put the Corvette in the garage. Problem solved, no trouble =]

The only way to get into the c6 when the alarm is set without triggering it is to break a window. If the doors open it will go off. If the hatch is opened, it will go off. So the autolock feature must have been off and the alarm wasn't set. Unless you found damage, then you just didn't hear the alarm.

Sounds like this is more the issue:
"We live in a pretty nice neighborhood, and these people seemed respectable enough until their daughter turned into a teenager. Then she started hanging out with less than savory looking kids, trespassing through our yard with boys to get to the woods behind our house, and then getting knocked up. We all know that's what quality is made of."
Gotta wonder if the car would have been an issue with different neighbors.
