Question........
2004 C5 - 13.3 seconds - 350hp
2009 C6 - 12.7 seconds - 436hp
2009 C6 Z06 - 11.7 seconds - 505hp
2009 ZR1 - 11.4 seconds - 638hp
Just wondering why there is such a big difference between the base C6 and Z06 with only a 69hp difference. I didn't bother to look up the weight difference, but is the Z06 that much lighter? Is it the gearing? I am also curious as to why there isn't a bigger difference in 1/4 mile between the C5 and base C6 and why such a small difference between the Z06 and ZR1?

C5 is high 12's, C6 LS3 is low 12's can break 11's, Z06 is about 11.3. ZR1 is about 11 seconds flat, maybe breaking 10's.
The fastest time a showroom stock base model C6 ran was 11.7, not that far off from a Z06 honestly. Yes, there is a bit of a weight difference.
I'm more concerned over the slight difference in Z06/ZR1 times. The Z06 is only slightly slower in both 0-60 and 1/4 mile times reported by magazines.
