Default '08 Silver 5-Spokes

So, I'm currently in the process of looking for a C6. I'm going to be buying a later model, like an '05 or '06. I know that I should worry about getting the car first, but I'm just curious about this. I really like the '08 painted silver split 5-spoke wheels. Are they more or less desirable than the chrome 5-spoke classic C6 style wheels? Do you think that anyone would be willing to trade them for chrome, or are the silver ones worth more?

It isn't a matter of one being more desirable than the other. Many owners like the "classic" C6 wheels ('05-'07) and many like the '08 split spokes. I think there are fewer who like the '08s though. Owners are always changing wheels, getting aftermarket custom wheels, etc. I doubt you would find anyone wanting to trade for stock classic wheels but you never know. You would more likely have to buy a set of '08s that someone took off and is selling and then turn around and sell your classic wheels later. Keep an eye on the C6 Parts For Sale Forum. There is all kinds of stuff coming up every day.

when I get my 08, I will be selling my original chromes that are on it and will get the split spoke competition gray rims. I think I like those the best.

anyone know why they offered those on the 08's ion the first place? can't tell a car is an 08 with those rims. Seems a bit backward as they have the gumbys and split spokes available.

I replaced my 5 spoke painted OEM wheels with these Factory Reproduction chrome split spoke. Was able to sell the original wheels here on the forum.

I assume you mean your '08 has the '05-'07 style chromes? Yes? If so, those are the chromes that were offered the first half of the '08 production. They didn't offer the chrome Gumbys until the end of Jan '08. Then they discontinued the original style chromes.

Nah, I'm not a big fan of chrome. I like the painted silver look. Thanks for your opinion, everyone. I'll probably just buy the '08 rims and then sell the chrome ones.

Default If you like chrome and want a 'bit' more offset....

I can highly recommend the Cray Mantas:

not feeling the crays at all...especially after seeing both models in person. The comp grey 08s look good and so do the chrome 08. The split spoke is just a good looking factory wheel
