Hey Guys, went out to adjust the brake, everything owas fine until I heard a click and noticed the stupid clip fell off its place... any one know a good procedure for replacing this??? I heard someone used zip ties but Im nt sure which cip to put on firstt and when I finally did have them all in I pushed the hinge though and it all fell apart AGAIN!!! AHHHH!!!
basically i pulled the rotor off and found my emergency brake shoe... i procedeed to expand the adjuster found on the parking brake shoe assembly and found that it might have been too tight because when I proceeded to put the rotor on, it got stuck... i proceed to bang the rotor off (with a rubber mallet) and heard a small click, looked behind the rotor and found the parking brake clip hanging there.... man this thing is a PITA to put back together as the clip is a V-shape and nearly impossible to put back on...
I don't jknow what the procedure is to put this back n with...
you are in trouble, i had a friend who did the exact same thing. the suspension upper control arm has to be disconnected, the axle slid out of the hub, and the hub and knuckle removed off the car. then the wheel bearing and hub removed from the knuckle. then you can put the retaining spring back on the e-brake shoe. yes, i know it's a pain, but that is the way the shop manual says do it. i know, been there. good luck

Wow....thanks Cranky. I haven't seen this before. I'll save that under "things NOT to do".
OK OK I GOT IT!!!! SO You do slip the shoe on with the wire in place... I then used a zip tie on the top hole and held straight up on it... The next step was tricky and that was holding the center of the V in place and sliding the spring back onto the other tab... took some work but then BAM!!! it was on... i then tightened up the brake and presto!!! no more problems... I took the other wheel off just to make sure I did this one right... WHEEW.
So yes it can be done. Thanks for all your help guys!!!

Not so.
I made a hook from a piece of brazing rod (coat hanger would work).
Use it to pull the end of the clip on it's tab.
Indeed, Any slope even 15 degree ones... If I even slammed up the aprking brake ALL the way it would still slide forward and scrape against the curb. I got sick of this. BTW when I did open the assembly I found a WHOLE LOT of brown / black "goo" and grease and nastiness. Nothing like a little purple power action. ALL GONE. Brake are working flawlessly.
