Exactly...that's what is so nice about the system....there is no need whatsoever to fumble around in a pocket to push a fob button...ever!

which is why i want the new one and from the link posted i am defiantly heading to my dealer a checking this out when i go to pic up my Mettle plates.

so i went to my dealer and they said they need a part number for the fob

but from the Kerbak thread it seems the key and fob are separate?

Anyone tryed this. If you did can you tell me the part number

They are expensive! And any locksmith can cut the key, it doesn't have to be done at a dealer. But it depends on your particular key if the 08 key will work in pre 08 locks...

i know there is some code and if it starts with 1 it may not work any info?

The entire blank is narrower, by 1 step, so if you have any cuts on your key that are "not cut", in other words, full width, then it won't work because the new key is not this wide...
This is my understanding...others may chime in if I am incorrect...

Simple, but expensive, just replace trunk lock cylinder and glove box cylinder....

Not "could"....but "will"...sure not worth it to me. I did have a thought though...might be able to take both of your cylinders to a locksmith and have him put new pins in it...wouldn't be more than about $10 each...just a thought...

mmmmhhhmmmm could work

IDk if GM would like it. hahaah

Looks like new cylinders are 175 and the glove box can just be reset plus the 109 for the key
