Default Keyless Access remote

So i have an 07 convertible and i really really hate the keys. I was wondering, i know u gan get up to 4 keys at a time so, can i buy the new key design with the integrated key and have it programed with my car or can u only program it with the new 08-09?

Also every one with the old design, do u cary around the emergency key or leave it at home?

What i have

The only key I have on my '07 FOB are house keys (my 2nd FOB does have the key however).

I cut the plastic off the 1st FOB's key (which makes it nice and flat) and keep it in my wallet. Of course, the FOB stays in my pocket unless I'm arriving home anyway. So far, no problems..

I carry them both. But just in case I have a second key with the black "head" ground down to the minimum required to still be functional and I carry that in my wallet. It's come in handy a couple of times.

I keep the fob in my pocket, the key is on my key ring. So they stay separated for just in cases. (learned that the hard way)

Carry the fob by itself on a small snap hook attached to my right front belt loop. Did buy one of those rubber "jackets" for it. Makes it a little thicker but since not in pocket, not noticable. Emergency/console/glove box key, house key and one small "special" key in my left front pocket.

Yes you can program the new fob, but you would have to program all of them at the same time otherwise your old fobs will not work.

Electrically all the fobs are the same...check GMPartsHouse post about the metal key though...it may or may not work.

There was talk about this when the new key FOB came out. The new FOB will work on your Vette, but you will need to change out the lock cylinder above the license plate to use the emergency key.

Hide the key somewhere under the car and just carry the FOB.

Change the cylinder and get the key cut to fit it. I think Gene sells the cylinders and the keys. Programming the fob is the same.

Don't forget that you will need to change the cylinder on the glovebox also if you want things to match up...

The hard key change is ONLY required if you have a "DEEP" cut I think the code is M1, otherwise the new key should work in the old locks.

Or so I've seen posted on the Forum.

Thanks for the tips and the quick responses.

We have 4 rides; all are set up the same. You take whatever set up for the vehicle your taking.

Fob and car key is together along with the house key... We can get in the house by using the garage remote, but twice have had a power failure so having a house key is necessary!

With the Vette always have the fob/key on your person; this is doubly true if your locks are set to passive activation!

The cuts in your key correspond to a 4 digit code.

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-c...-question.html

Seems that only applies to 2007's.
