All part of the experience. Learn to enjoy it and pick your battles. I got into it with a new M3 a few weeks ago. A worthy competitor. It was dumb looking back on it but he needed educating.

Maybe no-one wants to "race" - perhaps they just want to hear the vroom-vroom and see the cool car let its hair down.

I realy wouldn't let it bother me.

Then again, you may be onto something - since my car started looking like this, I dont believe anyone has so much as revved their engine my way..

It's easy to ignore most of it, but the guys that tailgate, or race thru traffic to catch up to you, are more than annoying. Had the latter happen about a week ago, saw headlights in the rear view coming up at a high rate of speed, weaving in and out of traffic, actually thought for a second, that it was a cop. Turned out to be a camaro, and for the next two miles or so, he'd race ahead three or four car lengths, fall back beside me, and do it again. I shook my head no to him, gestured with my hand no way, he refused to take the hint. The last time he pulled ahead, I made a quick left turn, and that was that. Idiots.

There seems to be two types of drivers that want to "race" a Vette. Those that just want a show and those that are stupid enough to think they are going to prove something, usually that they are losers.

Your reaction was correct. Laugh them off, or another good reply is a big yawn.

I don't encounter very many wanting to race. Mostly they just want the engine revved and to ask questions.

I had a mustang (07/08)coming towards me rev his motor and it sounded like he spun a main bearing, blue smoke and all. No I didn't pull over and offer any help - I figured stopping would just make matters worse.

My car had temporary tags and only 30 miles on it last week when a beamer pulled up along side and wanted to go! It would have been funny except he had a small child in the back seat!

hahah i say that all the time

So i was on the interstate last weekend and some POS mid 90's toyota pick up pulls up behind me and tails than passes in the right lane (two lane highway with men in the left) than guns it to about 85 than gets in the right and slows down to about 65 so i go by ignoring him continuing my speed of 75 and just as the nose of my car gets to the nose of his truck he guns it and cuts in front of me and runs at the same speed as me less than a car length away. This happened 3 more times than he got stuck behind a truck going up a hill and i lost him

Here in SE Virginia it seems to be the POS honda's with fart cans that tailgate for some reason. When being tailgated I will pass a vehicle and change lanes in front of another car not leaving enough room for "mr fart can" to be able to get in behind me.

However wifey does not drive Z06. She actually does not really care much for the vette, but as long as she allows me my toy. So be it.

Default Slow Car Syndrome

I traded off a Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder for my new Vette. I always felt more need to get off the line faster in the Spyder than I have in my Vette. Not to say that I don't take off fast in the Vette sometimes, I just do it to feel the power, not because I feel the need to beat the car next to me.

With the Vette, I know I have a very fast car and don't need to prove it. I don't really care if a pickup takes off faster than me, I know it is only because I let it happen. I no longer have Slow Car Syndrome.
