New guy here. I have my intro in the intro section. I am doing research on C6 Vettes cause I plan to own one very soon. I have heard mixed stories of the suspension on the C6's and would like some clarification. I have read in some places it has coils all the way around and other places I have read they have transverse leafs front and rear. If someone could clear this up that would be great, maybe even include some pics. Also what to look for when buying my first vette. Maybe even some suggestions on which one to go for. I may not be able to afford a Z06 but I am dead set on a C6, I would like to be able to see when I drive at night. Thanks.
Get a Z51 packaged one! From personal experience and even road reviews it was rated the best performance bang for the buck over the Z06 and ZR1. My .02cents.
All the OEM suspension options on C6 Vettes use the traverse leaf springs made from a composite material. There are a few aftermarket companies that offer coilover shocks for replacement of the traverse leaf springs.
OK, I will throw in for the F55 suspension system vs Z51. Do some searches here...LOTS of discussion on both systems. If you want a good all-around suspension that really smoothes out rougher roads and helps you keep better contact with the road while you can adjust to a stiffer, yet more controlled cornering machine, get F55.
If you are rarely on rough roads (especially in corners) and like to track regularly, Z51 has oil coolers and other options that can be of use in that environment.
Not to be harsh, but whatever sources are saying it's coils are bad sources for sure!
That said, before you go out buying a Corvette, you've certainly come to the right place, CF C6.
May I suggest that you do a bit of a search up on top, the stickies? There's a lot of info in the FAQ above C6 General. Read down through all of it and I'd bet somewhere around 75% of your questions will be answered.
Then go over to C6 Tech and read the sticky on top, Taking Care of Your Clutch, by Ranger.
And finally, stay on here for the next month or so, and you will see a range of topics, most of which will answer your questions betw. General and Technical.

Welcome! It would be helpful to know what in all you plan on using the car for... Getting on the track a bit, autocross, just driving occasionally, daily driver, etc. I would bet you'll be happy with either of the three suspension options: base, Z51 performance (stiffer than stock but definitely livable on a daily driver) or the adjustable suspension (which they modified and updated a bit and put standard on the baddest Corvette of all, the ZR1).
Decide on your price range and take it from there. If you can afford an '08, I think it's worth it. If not, I'd bet you'll be plenty pleased with any of the earlier C6's.
Well I plan on getting a 06 or 07 cause thats about my price range. It will be my DD if I don't drive the Jeep. And I may get a 1LT cause I don't need the HUD or Nav. I really want a Z06 but I cannot find one for under 40K and that would be pushin my wallet a bit. Thanks everyone for the help thus far in my quest for my first vette.
As stated in the posts above, the Corvette comes with transverse leafs front and rear. However you will not find these things on my particular Corvette

If your budget is $40,000 tops, get a used 2008/2009 coupe, 1LT, Z51, MZ6, NPP car. It will fit in your budget, and you'll be glad that you did.
Ok I may do that since they have the LS3 in 'em. But what is NPP and MZ6? And hey while I'm at it I'll get a Jetstream Blue, LOVE that color! Thanks, also I have been lookin at a few and I see a button on the center console that has a car with wavy tire marks, what is this for? Thanks.

NPP is the RPO code for the bi-mode exhaust option. It has a butterfly valve on the inner two exhaust tips that open up at times to allow the exhaust to flow more freely and sound more aggressive.
MZ6 is the RPO code for manual tranny in the Z06.
The wavy tire mark button allows the selection of three modes of handling characteristics which adjust the levels that the traction control system and the active handling system are employed.
