Default Competitive Driving Mode

I've been driving with the standard nannys on, but recently reading a post here I decided to try it out. Man, this car is a beast. It was quick before but now it's like a whole new Vette. Thanks, Dewman

What do you get as far as performance when in the comp mode. I haven't tried it yet and I really don't know much about it. You can PM me if you would like.

From my understanding it is relaxed stability control and no traction control. Sounds like a recipe for fun to me. I almost exclusively drive in CDM.

It's my understanding the Comp mode allows the 3rd valve in the cylinders to start breathing better, it lowers the suspension by 1/4", it provides better traction to the tires, and the stereo gets louder. I want to break my car in a few thousand more miles before I try it.

It does wake the beast up a bit making it a bit more of a handful to drive but does add to the fun factor.

I remember back in my C5 it just turned off the traction control but left the active handling on.

Competition mode gives the driver control of the rear wheels. The rest of the Nanny's are still on.

I did a few autocross events using comp driving mode. Seemed to work fine. After a couple of spin outs that had me scratching my head I turned everything off. I went faster and had no weird unexplaned spin outs. I'm not saying turn it off on the street, but I will turn everything off from now on for an Autocross.

Competitive Driving Mode
The driver can select this optional handling mode by
pressing the ACTIVE HANDLING button on the console
two times within a five second time period. A chime
will sound and COMPETITIVE DRIVING MODE will be
displayed in the DIC. Competitive Driving Mode
allows the driver to have full control of the rear wheels
while the Active Handling System helps steer the
vehicle by selective brake application.

I'm doing an HPDE this weekend and intend to leave all nanny's on. If I get froggy I might try Comp mode.

It's my understanding that by de-activating TC it does just that while it leaves the Active-Handling(Adjusted Steering) controls on. Competitive Mode gets rid of the Nanny's meaning TC as well as Active Handling. Hence when turning off the Competitive Mode the DIC tells you the Active Handling and TC is now back on.

5 Liter Eater, you may want to try all nanny's off once. Once I did I will not go back. In my case anyway, when I was near the limit the active handling could somtimes do things that did not allow me to slide through the corner normally. I firmly believe that I had a few spin outs that would not have happened with active handling off. Not only that, but my times were faster in Off mode than in Comp driving mode.

Of course it is all your choice (safety disclaimer) , I can only speak for my experience.

Competition mode shuts-off traction control and 'relaxes' active handling allowing greater tolerances for drifting or sliding your car (such as you want when running a road course). I run road courses regularly and I generally use comp mode. Even in comp mode active handling engages a lot. I always want traction control off when going WOT. I don't want the system fighting my efforts at acceleration....if I need to feather the throttle I will. Just using comp mode won't necessarily increase performance...the increase in performance essentially comes from you and your skill to handle the car at a higher level of performance.

Your right Wayne, even in Comp mode I noticed it kicking in quite a bit. Problem comes when you are close to the limit of traction on the front and rear and it decides to add some brakes. They say it lets you slide more, but it sure don't let the rear come out much before it starts kicking in. Maybe it's my dirt track and motocross experience, but I'd much rather have control of the slide myself.
