The Perfect Corvette?

I thinkg GM did a great job with this car, it is awesome. There will always be trade offs, that's what makes for the 'after market' companies. If you could build a car 'everyone' agrees is satisfactory, then those poor folks would be out of work. I'm more american than that, let's keep the economy running and start buying, SALES are evry where and on everything. It s time to buy, buy, buy.
Getting rid of all the gimmickry and "mass-marketing" junk would be a good start from a purist point of view. Eliminate:
cupholders
keyless ignition
NAV
OnStar
XM radio
auto on/off headlights
quiet mufflers
And only produce what real customers order ala Dodge Viper - no "for stock" dealer orders.
Seems Corvette has become the new "Buick."

FYI... GM does listen on here, but there's a constant balance they have to acheive between quaily, affordability, and overall appeal. To one guy a fully 2-toned custom leather interior, aftermarket hood, nose, paint, and twin turbos might be perfect. To me the car might look like crap and not do what I want it to do.
Some of the "bigger" things that were addressed in the C6 that came from watching C5 owners were the gauge bezels being OEM, Corsa-styled OEM exhaust tips, and more efford on road noise reduction. Those were common modifications/complaints etc.
I do wish they'd make a Z06 Vert though
You are aware that this is a company on the verge of bankruptcy, aren't you? They are not upgrading or changing anything on a sports car. Look for the focus to be on "green" crap. The gov't gets involved and the consumer suffers. If you drive a C6 it may very well be the last "C" ever. My guess is that they're bankrupt next month.

Happy Earth Day

Why is it that every time a thread comes up about some things to improve in the Corvette people always jump in and say the changes would make the car unaffordable?
GM sells a cheap painted license plate frame for $80..think there's a little profit in there?
How much would it cost to get a better audio system and better seats in the car?
I'm sure GM is paying Bose something to put the logo on the speaker panels. Drop them. And it was a bad move on Bose's part to advertise who makes this thing - I'll think twice before I buy anything Bose after this experience.
As for seats, GM has other vehicles with better seats (like the sporty high end Caddys) that could be used.
I don't think those 2 changes will double the price of the car.

Exactly, the way Corvette USED to be instead of being mass-marketed to old farts like a freakin' Buick. That's one of the reasons I had to have a Z06 - no worries about people complaining about the harsh ride, loud tires, extreme acceleration, etc.
So you're saying you'd like Corvette to be a ultra low volume boutique car that provides nothing to the bottom line? the only reason the Corvette has existed this long is because it makes money for GM.

I agree. you know BMW, and Lincoln just to name a couple are way better in comfort and design. Oh, they don't make you pay exta for 2 tone leather seats....and i'm pretty sure that both side mirrors dim when a car is behind you...and BMW has launch control...well I could go on and on...
You're starting to sound like a
.

SHEESH, where else on the planet can you get a BEAUTIFUL looking, QUIET 30+mpg cruiser, that stops better than a 911, and tops out close to 190mph for around $40,000?

[QUOTE=C6~Missle;1569817050]Whatever... the car is awesome already.. Nothing is perfect..
GM brought us performance, style and comfort in a reasonable price range.. It's reliable, fast and fun... One of the best buys on the planet.. It's not perfect... but just try and find something else that compares...
There will always be those who bitch about the seats, ticking noises or whatever... who cares... They are missing the big picture you are driving a corvette

2. I do NOT want seats with high bolsters. I want a seat that allows me to comfortably shift position on long drives. 1965 Chevy Stratoline swivel buckets are my ideal (they swiveled out to allow easy entry/exit), but the current Corvette seats with the memory feature are satisfactory to me. I wouldn't object to higher quality leather, or cloth, upholstery.
3. Now you're talking, solid mahogany or good honest engine turned steel for the dash. No more of this soft padded safety **** crap. Same with the steering wheel, good honest wood and chrome steel. We probably need to do something about that plastic body too. I'm with you that cars shouldn't use plastic in their construction. Wood and steel were good enough for grandpa, they're good enough for me too.
4. I'm with you on the tacky decals, badges, etc. If they don't make the car go faster or ride better, I don't want them.

cupholders Sure, a mass market car with no cup holders?
keyless ignition I wish all my cars had this. A great feature!!
NAV If you use the car as a driver in a big city or unknown area why would you not want NAV?
OnStar Ok, not a big fan but in a pinch it may come in handy.
XM radio Free maybe
auto on/off headlights A lot of idiots forget to turn on lights.
quiet mufflers Just what we need, more noise and LOUDER noise. Whats wrong with NPP?
And only produce what real customers order ala Dodge Viper - no "for stock" dealer orders.
Seems Corvette has become the new "Buick."

I love my C6 and everything it has to offer. I will say, however, my best friend just bought a new 370Z yesterday and the seats and interior are a little nicer. It's actually got me thinking about changing my seats out. But on the street, that Z can't hang with my C6 and he knows it!!
