Most of the work done to our cars seems to be changing the oil and adding mods. Also some feel the need to add badges, but that is another thread. The maintanence seems very easy/ minimal. I have a 2005 and had a tire sensor issue once and I change my own oil. Could not be more of a dream.
i mean this in a joking way but i i cant believe so many people think the vette costs like 65k+ and requires special maintenance and gets terrible gas mileage.
anyway you are going to be so happy with it. i have an 05 myself and i ****ing love driving it.
In all fairness, if you have electrical problems with a C6, I'm pretty sure it won't be a "do it yourself" fix. The electricals in the C6 are probably at least as complicated as the Benz. Maybe others with more experience will weigh in.
But the C6's have been pretty dependable - I'm sure you're going to love yours! Congrats!
I used to have a 2003 Mercedes Benz C-class and I would always have to bring it in to the dealer for maintenance and repairs.
When I had my 2002 ford mustang, all the repairs could have been done by myself, so is the C6 more like the stang or Benz?
My 06 vert has been very reliable/ dependable and major trouble free. I am a retired auto mechanic so I do like to tinker and fuss with it, however the car would have been fine without my help. Compared to my friends BMW's, Benz's and Jag's, the vette is much more reliable. And yes, they do cry about it all the time...........
The biggest difference in service requirements comes with the Corvette models that have a dry sump oil system which requries a modified procedure for the oil change. Since it looks like your interested in the base coupe / convertible, this shouldn't affect you.
You can go to the GM Parts House website and check out the service requirements in the PDF version of the owners manual they have available.
That's what freaked me out about my vette. My old SL500 used to require $600-1000 maintenance services are regular intervals. If you look at the sheet besides the LOF they oiled the door hinges, checked torques, and other "filler" stuff.
First time I got my vette oil change I had to ask the service manager to repeat himself when he said "just change the oil and nothing else" for service.

There is one particular piece of special maintenance you must perform the the C6. Occasionally, you must fully depress the right-most pedal to ensure everything is in working order.
Some dealerships just try to setup service schedules. For the mazda I had previously the dealer would start calling and mailing out letters after 3 months. Every 5k miles they wanted to lubricate and go through this checklist.
