Default different driving modes

When do you guys use the different driving modes..active handling traction, competitive driving, traction control off. Or is this just a gimmick??
I enjoy using paddles, traction system activated mode..Sorry, if I confused some.

I like competitive on most winding road and traction control the balance of the time.

For normal street driving I leave full AH and TC on. Whenever going WOT I always shutoff TC (or use comp mode) as I don't want the system fighting my efforts to accelerate. If I need to feather the throttle I'll do it. I run road course events and I'll use comp mode about 70% of the time. On some courses even in comp mode I find the system intervening way more than I'd like. In which case, I shutoff all nannies.

TC and AH aren't a fail-safe but they're definitely not a gimmick either. These controls cannot overcome the laws of physics but in certain circumstances their intervention might just save you and your car from disaster. Comp mode shuts-off TC and relaxes AH allowing greater tolerances for sliding or drifting the car. This is essential for running a road course. I once went onto a road course without having one of my tire pressure sensors properly registered and accordingly I could not get into comp mode. Even on the first warmup lap the system was intervening on virtually every corner. It was flat dangerous IMO. I expect the car to handle in a certain manner and when it doesn't it totally screws you up. I got off the track pronto and made sure the TPS's were all registered so I could access comp mode again.

The A6 is definitely not for driving like an old person. It has an S mode for 6500 RPM shifting I think you are and banned if I am not mistaken.

to the OP, the cars manual explains each function.

That is for sure.

Sad that some do not appreciate what both the manual and the auto can do. They also both have some good points and bad points. Only a fool under estimates either tranny.
