I bought the '07 Z06 3/4/09. I took it in wednesday for my first oil change. before I left the dealereship, the service writer called and informed me that the engine had been replaced under warranty on 2/13/09. as it turns out, when I bought the car, the new engine had a grand total of 388 miles on it. I don't think I broke in the remaining 212 miles as directed. what the heck. anyway, I have a brand new engine in my '07 Z06

The engines do not require an old school 'break in period'. The break-in is for Trans/Diff and breaks.
Did you buy the car from a dealer? Im curious to know if they're obligated to tell you the engine was replaced.
was used at ford dealership. I've bought twenty cars with them. they did not know until I told them. FYI, CARFAX is for damage only. I checked into it.
When you say "universal engine" does that mean it's not the hand built Z06 engine? I'm just wondering because GM made such a big deal out of how the LS7 engines are hand built all the way through by one person! Doesn't sound like a universal engine would be the same?
