A friend of mine just bought a CLS 63 AMG - he loves it - so far.....

But for a 100 Grand - I'd be looking at a ZR1

Gorgeous cars. They make an AMG version, I think. But quite a different mode of transportation than the Corvette. I think that might be the difference; you sit in and steer the MB, but you drive the vette. I think of cars like that as very fast, good looking elevators.

If you're thinking of selling the vert and buying used, you can probably get into an 07' CLS 550 for a few thousand more. You're going to miss the power though.

As for the CLS63, that's kinda outta your league unless you're willing to pony up quite a bit more.

Girl I was dating had a CLS 500. I drove it around all the time. It was ok...

Acceleration is decent, handles like a big boat. Plus, it only seats 2 people in the back, and not very comfortably...

The CLS is a beautiful car. My father is looking at picking one up, but were keeping the vette. We already have an SUV and Hopefully by this winter, we will add a CLS or an S-class. They aren't as reliable as corvettes but the comfort is unmatched. However, in your situation, I would definitely keep the vette. You will not get any attention in the CLS and will not get that sports car feel. But in the end, its your decision...

Real nice cars but they come at a big price, now and later on down the road. Just multiply Vette maint expenses by 3-4x and you got the price. MB's reliability is starting to improve from the days Chrysler was being an anchor for them. I would like to get an E550 someday but keep my Vette.

They are nice cars, but they are not a Vette. It is a difference experience driving a MB and a Vette.

Im sorry, but Only acceptable trades are: Z06 or ZR1. Everything else can be had in addition, not as a replacement of your vette. Thats the way we roll around here.

I have to agree in almost every way. The CLS is OK, but for the money I would not even consider it. Unless U need the slight extra size.. (Keep in mind if U have kids over 5 feet tall they will look like a pretzel after riding in the back seat of the CLS) U should look for a CTS-V or even STS-V. Much more reliable too, not to mention American, gorgeous, and serious performers that handle like four door Vettes, not Land Barges.

Just outta curiosity.. Why sell the Vette to get a Sedan??? They are completely different type of cars. Keep both. I have never even considered my Vette for replacement. Even when I got my first one, as a struggling student/bartender years and years ago.. I still had an everyday car. Get the Benz.. or one of the superior Caddy's and have the best of both worlds.

EXACTLY!!!

A Vette is a discretionary vehicle.. not a vehicle that should be regarded as just one of the "Fleet."

Like I said.. check out one of these:

STS-V if U need a lil extra size

or

CTS-V if U need to have the world's fastest V8 powered Sedan:

You should inquire in a MB forum to get info on that car.
Talk you out of it? No, thats a decision a man should make on his own.
Good luck with your eventual choice.

I owned a 2006 CLS55 AMG for two years. It was a great car. The benz is a completely different car than the C6. Pros- Great looks, interior, ride quality, fit and finish, performance, (the AMG versions haul xxx) mod friendly, (at least the CLS55). Cons- The back seat is worthless for anyone over 5'10", reliability, yes they break and when they do, they are expensive as hell to fix. Mine had several electrical gremlins over the two years. All covered by warranty, but concerning. Do not buy one without a warranty. Fuel economy with the AMG cars is dismal. Driven reasonably hard they are 10-12mpg cars at best.

IMO, a CLS is not a replacement for Vette. Nice car, but different beast. It is not in the same league as an S class, A8 or 7 Series. To each his own, good luck in your search.
