It seems to be there are alot of issues with manual transmissions with the corvette.
Seems to be a lot of issues with the TR6060. When I was at my dealer (before he stopped selling GM) they had 2 08's in for tranny problems. I believe one vette received a new tranny don't know about the other one. The TR 6060 might well be a better trans than T56 but it's sure got it's share of issues....

First year for the vette was 08. I know a buddy has one in his 07 GT 500... Exactly how long it's been around I don't know... I'm sure we're going to find out now!!

The TR-6060 made its debut in 2007 only in the GT500 and found its way into the Vette & Viper in 2008 from the info I've seen.
At 10,200 miles, I still have the cold shifting notchiness/roughness issue with the 1-2 and 2-3 so I double clutch until the fluid warms up. I drained a small sample of tranny fluid last night and though its still red, it appears a little cloudy with a few very tiny metal particles visible in suspension. I assume the metal is from break-in of the tranny since I've never missed a shift nor had an audible grind (just the cold shifting issue which I can feel in the stick). I will be ordering the GM Manual Transmission Fluid for a fluid replacement to see if it helps the cold shifting (as well as Dexron LS for the rear axle for its cold grind issue).
My tranny has the 1-2 and 2-3 shift when cold problem. It makes me not like the car so much. It doesn't last long till it gets to temp, and then it's fine. Again, just wait a second in between shifting gears. My cheap mustang had better shifting tranny!
The old tried and true 4L60E 4 spd. auto which was the only year and last year of this tranny on C-6
I think the 4L60E is junk. I had an 06 Trailblazer SS with that tranny and I blew it out twice. It's a weak tranny. I upgraded to a Jeep SRT8 and no more problems. Man that SS tranny would hunt for gears, never shift right etc etc etc.... Bad tranny if you ask me.
I love my 08 z51, but she is in the shop right now with the tranny tore out with all of the synchros gone. they look like they are brass and all of the teeth are stripped off the inside of them, all 6. The car had a serious grind in 2nd gear that happend all of a sudden. I have read about many problems with these trannys on this site and would like to know how long some of you have waited for parts or have recieved a new trans from GM thanks ,Kevin.
GM has had corvette manual trans issues since c5 came out in 97, this is why I now have an automatic.
where did he read about"all about the problems" and who's to say he knows how to drive a manual?
In fact there have been many complaints about the TR6060 trans.. not just on this forum either. I personally saw 2 08's at my dealers for manual tranny issues. One required the entire tranny replaced around 2200 miles. Here are a few threads but there are many others...
I believe GM knows there are issues with the TR6060 tranny but doesn't want a full blown recall... especially right now! They will simply handle them on a case by case bases....

Why did they change the trans in 2007 model after the 2005 and 2006 Models?
I've had no problems with my 06 mn6, other than having to shift slower from 1st to 2nd, and 2nd to 3rd, when the oil is still cold. It's not really a problem, and I still think that it is a good transmission, but it's not the new TR-6060.
Has anyone had favorable results after using the new GM tranny fluid? I am considering using Royal Purple Synchromax, but maybe I should use this new, recommended lubricant. Any thoughts?

I bought the GMPP and I am not going to worry about it. I love my car and if and when I have a tranny problem, I will be covered. Living in FL, my tranny is always warm.

Because it is what it is!! You are covered under warranty so no reason to be worried. The OP asked about threads where owners had trouble with the TR6060 and I supplied some threads. I have an 06 and had to have my top replaced. Every model year always has some known issues which are usually handled under warranty.
I believe GM is simply handling the problems with this tranny on a case by case bases. Nothing wrong with doing it that way unless it becomes a issue with most TR6060 transmissions.
Before you take it to the dealership put some Redline in it and that may smooth out the shifting.
WAIT!!!!
Here's why.
Some time ago GM used the ZF box in these cars.
Some folks thought that a change to a other than GM fluid would be the way to go.
GM soon refused to warranty the box's that had other than GM fluid or a GM approved fluid in it. I think there was only one approved fluid.
IIrc the issue was that GM claimed some of the fluid that was being used was actually too slippery and there was not enough friction for the sycro's to function properly.
So you may want to do some research before going to other fluid imo.
I agree with Fastcar. Do the research first and possibly check with your dealer. With money so tight for GM, they might indeed tell you to walk if you change fluids.
