Had one with problems, four trips and off it went to lemon law. GM refused to do anything with my transmission so they ate the whole car!! Now I've got an auto with a little more umph!

I have read about many problems with these trannys on this site and would like to know how long some of you have waited for parts or have recieved a new trans from GM thanks ,Kevin.
Has anyone had favorable results after using the new GM tranny fluid? I am considering using Royal Purple Synchromax, but maybe I should use this new, recommended lubricant. Any thoughts?

Yes, some thoughts. You can use any fluid you want, and it may improve your trans shifting. BUT, if it breaks, there is a possibility that your warranty for the trans won't be honored because you used another fluid. Simple as that. I'd say, ask the question of some GM service manager.
Mine is fine, and has been since about 1700 miles on odo. I haven't changed a thing yet on the '08 trans. In cool to colder weather, it needs to be warmed up before clean shifts in lower gears. I can wait until everything warms up.

On another car (out of warranty) I used Redline in the 5 spd. shifter which made a big difference in shifting. Much smoother and each gear went in so smoothly. If I didn't use this fluid and stuck to the factory one Mercon I would have sold the car a long time ago as it wasn't safe if you couldn't engage the gears quickly or without grinding them.
Now 20 years later no problems with tranny and still shifts smooth.

I saw a significant improvement in my 06 MZ6 trans. with the Royal Purple Syncromax. I also saw an improvement with frequent clutch fluid changes. The MGW shifter also helps a lot. A fully warmed up trans. is still required for best shifting, about 15 min. of driving, or when engine oil temp. reaches 180 / 190 degrees.

Completely agree, altho it does sound as if OP's problems go beyond this.

Glad to hear it. I've used Ams and others in other cars. Some worked and others were no difference. I did have one car that was notorious for a weak second gear synchro when I bought it new. If you banged it from 1st-2nd when cold, you would need a trans with all the parts breaking up inside, not just wearing. With good warmup and either skip shifting or slow shifting, the trans wasn't torn apart that I can recall up to, and beyond 193K miles, and I put on 120K of those miles.
No probs with my old weak `05 . . .but can't honestly say I recall reading many posts about similar tranny problems . . . hopefully, it affects darned few . . .
Thankfully, you had a warranty . . .
The weak link on the 05 isnt the tranny, its the half shafts and the diff. The tranny is the same as the 06 and 07.
7500 miles on my '08 mn6...no transmission problems...even cold shifting isn't a big issue (doesn't get that cold here in eastern nc)...did have the rear end noise, but a change to the synthetic fulid solved that...good luck....
This tranny is used in multiple cars, but they are built _ spec _ for each manufacturer. Meaning that the hardness of the materials are different from one manufactures TR6060 to another. This tranny is spec'ed to handle the power/torque of the Z06. So the internal parts are rated as such. Ford or Dodge may have different internals. Look the same but material hardness will be different. Just what I've heard.
I mean why would a car manufacturer pay extra for a tranny built for 600 horses and 560 torque when for a little less on each unit will handle 505 and 470 or whatever they are. Same as Aston Martin, You know that is not the same unit part for part.

Keep in mind that Ford has had issue's with the TR6060 trans and specifically the synchro's . A friend of mine is a tech for Ford and suspected it could be an inherent problem with the tremec 6060 trans no one wants to talk about. He's already replaced 2 of them in GT500's so something is going on.
He felt his suspicion might be supported by some Vettes and Vipers which have had similar issues! It could be more than just a flywheel problem which Ford now claims was the problem which caused the trannys to fail.
Be interesting to see what happens with these trans over an extended time period. Only time and more miles with the newly installed units will tell the real story.
Did it just happen all of the sudden or were you having grinding issues before?
It happened all of a sudden. All of my parts are in but one. They had to get some from Canada, some from the states. It has been two and a half weeks now and i have serious seperation issues.....hope that last part gets here soon. Thanks for all the replies guys
