Default Why I like runflats

I was driving home tonight from upstate NY to NYC, when I hit a pot hole on the hwy in the pouring rain at 65 mph. I new right away that it was going to be bad and then the DIC says left front tire flat, drive at 55 mph. I had 85 miles left on my trip and was not sure how far I could go on a flat so I call onstar they connected me to a tech and he said I could travel 100 miles. The reason for the 55mph was that the car is not handling as it should. I did drive at 65 mph most of the trip and had no problem, it was hard to tell I had a flat. This is why I'll keep my runflats, they did their job and got me home safely.

10-4!

Drove 30 miles on them and $40.00 later (patch)...all was well.

Imagine the same scenario with non-runflats.

For street driving I value the keep on truckin' advantage runflats provide.

Last time I checked, a Corvette is a street-driven sports car. If run flats aren't for you, fine. I recently had a flat and I am very glad I had run flats on the car

I had single direction, exspensive Goodyears on my 2001 Camaro SS. Get a flat, the tire was wasted. No matter how fast you pulled over, the wheel would tear up the inside of the tire, and it would have to be replaced. I lost 3 tires that way, at about $400 + each. One time I got to the side of the road and still had some air left in the tire, but it was still to late. These run flats are the wat to go.

Default koni fsds and runflats

have a 08 a6 z51, that would bounce down these north east roads just north of the n.y. city. was positively going with non -runflats as i did on my 2002, m6,z51 (with great improvement). near the end of the supercars tires (13,000 miles) i installed koni fsds and was happy with the improvement. recently replaced tires and at the last minute i decided to go with the firestone wide oval run-flats instead of invos. the dry and wet handling is very good, but i dont see much improvement in ride quality and noise over the supercars as others have posted. the roads here are terrible so i think people who say the z51 is comfortable dont have the terrible road conditions i have. i highly recommend the fsds to anyone who feels the z51 is too harsh and/or bounces around too much. i think a set of non-runflat nitto invos would have been icing on the cake, but it is nice too have the security of runflats. next time i will go with the mag ride option, as the engineers really nailed it with the zr1, according to the road tests.

Extended mobility tires, traction control, limited slip differentials, active handling and magnetic selective ride control are all fantastic inventions, and I wouldn't want to be without any of them.

110% The car has no spare. It just makes sense.

I find the ride on my RF's fine, with good handling, great traction, and quiet. Maybe because it is a 09 and the Vette has more noise reduction. I hear some of the complaints and quite frankly wonder what in the he** these people are talking about.

Default Front vs. Rear flat

Glad to hear that they work well on the front as well. I had a rear flat with the run flats and I found the car to be a bit squeamish even though I was babying it. It was still better than changing a tire in the dark.
