Some garages invite you to watch. I was at Curry's Auto Service in N. VA a few days ago having my tires removed from wheels and placed on new wheels and they asked me if I wanted to go into the garage and watch.

Are you driving on the tire that needs to be replaced, or did they patch the nail?

Check your wheels for scratches before and after they replace the tire. I checked with 3 Goodyear shops around here when I had a "nail" in my tire. Only 1 of them was really willing to work on the car - the others kept putting it off.

The one that did end up checking the tire scratched the wheel as they were taking the tire off (turns out it wasn't even a puncture - just a tack that was embedded in the tread). The store manager ended up telling me that they usually don't work on the Corvette run-flats because their equipment is slightly older, and scratches up wheels often. He recommended one other shop in the area that had newer "touchless" mounting equipment. Unfortunately, he wasn't there when I brought the car in...

You are exactly right. I used the hockey pucks once on a C5 and one of them did slip and crack the rocker panel.

so i got my tire today and i have a huge dent in my rim they found and i have no idea how it got there cuz i had never seen it. They also lost my valve cap so they gave me so generic one (lucky their only 5 bucks so i ordered on form my dealer).

Annnnddddd

Goodyear stopped making my tire sooooooo i got the Eagle F1 Super car tire but its a mismatch cuz my other tires are the originals so it looks really really bad

anyway a long store made kinda short..

i called GY and they were nice they said they wouldn't get me a second Supercar tire for the warranty price but they said to have my Goodyear store call and they did and they got me a matching tire sooooo

it will not look as sily but i sill wanted the second new tire

Off comes the rim and the tire and back on with a new one

It sucks to hear stories like this, where you get "fixed" but not really happy with the results. I've made the mistake before of not being **** enough and ended up with damage to 2 wheels on my GTO. Was only able to get them to pay for one and the shipping for both. I still had to pay for the other new wheel. I wish there was an automotive chain that was "performance" oriented so that guys with vettes, vipers and so on could know going there that they followed the specific needs of that car.

Wonder if the BMW dealership would work on a Vette since they deal with run-flats too.

...and some friends ask my why I went from the GY Supercar EMT's to the Invo non-runflats. Just because of stories like this. I'll take my chances & carry a plug kit & mini-12v pump with me!
