Just think about it, a high school student resurrects this totaled, falling apart car from the scrap heap to build HIS dream car. Yes, it was with his autoshop classmates, but he was the driving force in it's creation. Then he goes on an all out adventure meeting all kinds of characters for the love of his car. I think I was only 7 or 8 when I first saw it, but I remember thinking, "When I'm old enough, I want to build a car and love it as much as this kid did."

Admittedly, I have the DVD and still watch the movie every few years. LOL!
I already loved the C3 before I saw the movie but agree it would have been a dream come true to build one out in HS.

and the kid was Luke Skywalker ( well, Mark Hamill, pre Luke) the car gets stolen from him the first night he drives it after his shop class finishes the build. the car was kick ***, the side exhaust and the tilt front end were cues from the first mako shark concept car. real corvette stuff,,,the hood scope, paint, and headlights were obnoxious, but at the time, it was as cool as an X wing fighter..

Don't understand the hate for the car. It was a product of it's era and still looks pretty kewl.

Plenty of boring stock vettes around.

Perfectly stated!! It was 30+ years ago. These cars were plentiful and not real valuable. Still today, it is just a car. Like it or not. Who cares. It was built and made someone millions in royalties.

The story was cool and made us all want to be in Mark's shoes in HS. Sadly, not too many got an actual opportunity to do so.

I saw it the Corvette Summer vette on a recent Fast and Loud. Richard Rawlings purchased it as an investment.

I just saw this car last weekend at the car show at the Pavilions in Scottsdale AZ. It rolled in and almost threw-up. It might have been a replica, but it was ButtUgly none the less. The only saving grace was the honey driving it was pretty hot.
