I was wondering if anyone has this problem. When goin round a turn especially off the highway i hit a bump, it can even be lil bump the car feels like the thing goin slide out from under me. What causes that and how do i fix. Will something as simple as sway bars or what.
It all depends on how fast you're moving. I've got the Z51 package and if I hit a bump with speed in a turn it feels like I could lose it. Just have to be careful when on the pedal. New tires may help some though, I still have the run flats.
I have a 2009 w/Z-51 and like Skunk it feels a little loosy goosy in that scenario. I also had a squirrelly feel when accelerating to pass which involves pulling around the slower vehicle. This was resolved by an alignment which was covered under my factory warranty.
The bottom line is, there are no RR tracks holding the car on course. The Corvette is a spectacular sports car that holds the road better than most cars out there. You must know the conditions you're driving in and learn the cars limitations.
IMO the dampers play a role but the side-skip you experience comes mainly from the 'cross-talk' effect of the the transverse leaf spring. Improved anti-roll bars will help eliminate body roll and affect 'handling' but even the sways bars transmit the effects of a bump from one wheel to the other. The stiff sidewall runflats also contribute to the side-skip you feel.
Eliminating the transverse leaf springs and using an independent coil-over suspension helps greatly. Also, I always felt the larger Z06 size supercar runflats soaked-up these kind of bumps better than the OEM C6 tires. You can reduce the unsettling side-skip effect but to some extent it's always going to be there.
What year car and miles? Any changes to factory? (wheels/tires/suspension)
Temp, road condition (wet or dry) speed?
If you're on older run flats and the roads are uneven and damp, and you're jumping on it in a corner, there's only so much correction the cars handling and traction systems can make.
On the other hand, a few bumps, dry roads, good tires and reasonable speed shouldn't be a problem. Did you get a "service active handling" message or any other on the dash ?
Sounds like the same float that you get when turning corners at 50 MPH + over expantion joints in the highway. Shock change to Koni's will solve the problem.

I agree with Wayne. There is also the "driver mod" however
It might be a normal condition called "bump steer" where it feels like the car actually slides over a notch in the front end when you hit a bump in the road during steering.

That's not "bump steer". Bump steer is the change in toe when a wheel is deflected up or down (as when hitting a bump).
06 bone stock, 16000 miles. i bought the car used but i think it just has the stock tires on.
it mainly does it around the turns of an off ramp prob. goin bout 45 or so. it not really a big deal just wanted to see if any1 else had that problem. maybe i need to just go a lil slower boooohoooo.
i dont think there is something wrong wit car just how it was made and wanted to know wht i could do to change it.

I agree the F55 softens the effect. We have a spot on the road approaching our house with a dog leg left that I hit going 40 to 45 almost daily. in this spot is a series of small bumps, about 4 or 5. When I hit them the car seems to shift or slide somewhat, not much but noticeable. Does it in my GMC Yukon also but much less pronounced. Now I normaly steer around them.

Alot of things determine how a car will handle: shocks, sways, tire pressure, type of tire, speed, road surface (tar, concrete, etc.), temperature, braking, acceleration, twisties, sweeps, easy power on and off (need to do "easy") - same with brakes or you throw car out of balance. YOU DETERMINE HOW THE CAR IS GOING TO HANDLE BY HOW AGGRESSIVE YOU ARE!
