I saw this silver 2005 corvette that i found online... i went to the dealership to test drive it and check it out. DId the handshake.. waited the longest hour in my life waiting for the financing department to get their ish ready.. then as im waiting.. i get word ill have to wait until tomorrow to take it.. im like "WTF!?" now im waiting longer for the finance guy to get his act going.. and now ive been there since 445pm and its like 730pm. I call my buddy and tell him im driving back with his car. As i leave i see it just sitting there in the lot..
anyways.. today im like a lil kid waiting for that damn toy that im hoping santa brings me.. That feeling where i cant sleep cuz im too excited.. that feeling in ur stomach like something didnt go right.. like butterflies... (well that plus sunday at moto gp really kicked my butt with the drinking.. but thats another story..) both of these stomach feelings are really kicking my butt. ..They told me they would call me in the afternoon. I feel like calling them and asking "is it ready?"..
They took my down payment yet they wouldnt release the car.. what gives.. anyways.. im hoping nothing gets in the way for me to pick it up today.
I feel your excitement but I would have walked from the deal and went somewhere else. Unless there was something wrong with your credit (which I know there wasn't), it makes no sense for them to take their time like that. You're not buying a house or a yacht here... its a car. I bet if you told them "nevermind this is taking too long, i'll go home and check some other options" they would knock of another grand and given you the keys right then and there.. lol hey, ive seen it happen.
Congrats on getting your Vette
Does sound kinda weird though they're taking so long to get the car ready for you.
I wouldn't hesitate to call, and... call again.
Heck, you did your part.
Are they detailing the car or something, to get it ready, it doesn't seem right to make you wait.
Either way, Best of Luck with the new toy
Maybe they are having computer problems or the finance company is having computer problems. When I bought my '09 in July same thing happened to me. After going back & forth with the salesman we finally made a dea. I'm sitting there waiting an hour for them to come get me I finally find the salesman to see what is going on. He tells me the computer is down hopefully it won't take much longer. I wait another hour and finally I tell them call me when your computer comes back online. Now mind you this is a Saturday afternoon, there were numours people there buying cars so now this means I have to wait until Monday (dealers are closed on Sundays here). I doed all weekend long waiting. Monday came and the salesman still hadn't called me by 11:00. I called him and he goes its finally up and running and there are 4 people ahead of you so as soon as it ready we'll call you. Didn't hear from him until 2:00 in the PM. But I finally did get it. Aparnetly of there were 8 people that bought cars that Saturday afternoon and only (3) got approved for financing (that was when everyone was starting to get real picky with credit)
Because new cars aren't selling and the financial institutions are seeing foreclosures on homes and repo's on autos- they're being extremely picky and difficult in financing used cars.
If you don't have much of a credit history or have issues, they may be shopping your loan in an effort to get the best rate or acceptance.
If you've got a lender you've worked with, you might make some calls while you're waiting for the dealership in order to find a competitive rate.

and CQRT was right.. they are shopping around. Whats weird is my credit score was 730 and they still have to shop around? i have some old stuff on my credit report regarding late payment to a school bill but that was years ago.. anyways im still waiting and hoping i can pick her up today!
When I bought mine last august, the credit crisis was spinning out of control. Despite my excellent credit rating it took 6 hours at the dealer AFTER we agreed on price to get it financed.
Depends on the size of your d/p. I had half down,no loan with the credit union yet, gave them a ck and left with my C6 vert. I also got a killer deal to boot. They were however very hungry and had 5 other verts just like mine on the lot sitting. The whole deal took 2 hours until I drove away. I would walk.
Congrats on your new Vette, tomorrow morning will be here before you know it, and I am sure everything will be ok, send us some pics after you bring her home!
[If you think waiting overnight is bad, try ordering a new one and waiting + six weeks for the delivery, that is rough!]

Run...don't walk.
Find another...It may be entirely legit, but my meter thinks its a game for more $$$ or someone else has first dibs on it.
I had the loan from my credit union before I went to the showroom. The whole deal took 30 minutes, which was mostly the writing of various forms. Oh, this included the negotiations.
Get your loan approval -before- you go !!! Saves lots of time.
