I'm sorry Larry, but the only White vehicles I saw in the town of Dupont (drove through there this past weekend, really) were US Postal, Ice Cream or Garbage Trucks.
Maybe the press release meant White-wash, currently in very high demand.
It would be interesting what you would get if you exclude the fleet and government vehicles from the figures. I seem to remember a few years back that silver was #2.
And I think white with red guts looks sharp on a Vette.
White is popular on the left coast because people know that California will either start heavily taxing or just flat out outlaw black cars because they are very eco-unfriendly, so they buy white to be ahead of the curve. And we all know what happens in Cali eventually spreads east. If you are an illegal immigrant this doesn't apply - because that would be discrimination.
To me, and this is just my opinion, when I see a white Vette, I assume it's a woman driving it. There's nothing wrong with a woman driving a sports car, but white Vettes just look feminine to me, compared to other colors.
Yep. Wasn't my first choice of color, but the deal was too good to pass up. I wanted an Atomic Orange or LeMans Blue, but the black one was very low miles and loaded. I thought about passing on the black one, but I would have compared every other car to it.
I've owned:
'87 S10 Tahoe - Black and gray
'85 Monte Carlo SS - White
'91 Cutlass Ciera - Blue/gray
'00 Camaro Z28 - Navy Blue Metallic
'05 Equinox - Meander Green (wife's car; still have it)
'06 Accord - Royal Blue Pearl (daily driver; still have it)
'06 C6 - Black
Like I said, it's just my "hang up" with white Vettes.
I purchased my AW Vette a couple of weeks ago. I think that white gives the Vette a more refined look.
I love that scratches don't show up under most lighting, fluorescents will still show them. I love how dust doesn’t show as much on white. I love how the white color keeps the car cooler in the summer. I love that there are fewer white Vettes out there which makes mine that much more unique.
I hate how bugs show up a lot more on white. I do get envious from time to time when I see a dark colored Vette with a mirror shine to it. No matter how well I get a shine on the white Vette it will never have the reflection capability other colors have.
I had a white '76 new when it was the most popular color. I believe at least some of the reason for its' large numbers back then was the poor quality of the factory paint jobs-white was good at hiding most of the flaws, and mine had many. I have always been a fan of the white/red interior combo but just can't pull the trigger on ordering one. I prefer the shine I can get with black or red 'Vettes, as I've owned 3 and 4 respectively of each. As for the White Diamond color as on Caddys, we've had three of them and that paint color is impossible to touch up. I would stay away from it on a 'Vette for that reason alone.
When I ordered my LeMans Blue '05 Vert, the dealer told me that the LMB was being controlled by GM to be no more than 8-9% of '05 Vettes. I'm wondering if GM pre-ordains the percentages of all of the colors.
I prefer the white, but its gotta be a vert with the black top. The contrast stands out and is very classy, I think. I have received many a complement along those lines as well.
I think the red interiors look like they took the seats out of a roller coaster and installed them!
I love white on a vette! I've had people tell me "wow I've never seen a white vette before". Black vettes are everywhere, right next to yellow. I think the vette looks good in almost all colors. I passed on a blue vette for my white one.
White is the easiest color to maintain and it hides swirls and imperfections in the paint the best. Unlike the color black white reflects heat so it doesn't get hot like in a black car.
