I understand. BTW, who did the install? You said you bought it "new" and in the box, with your new vette. Not saying that it was installed wrong, no matter who did it, but so many of the ones that have failed were installed improperly (leading to what you have experienced).
Hope you get it resolved though. There are alot of satisfied owners that do feel that it is a good product and that it delivers what it says.
I installed it correctly as far as I know. This leads me to mentioning the crappy instructions and pictures that came with it. I have been a mechanical engineer for 25+ years and would have been fired long ago for writing instructions like the crap that came with it. They should spring for some toner for their printer once a year or so. How can installation cause plastic to warp like that? Its a material and design issue. You seem to know the product pretty well. Maybe you can help get these issues resolved for everyone that has experienced messed up gaskets and warping plastic. Maybe a class action event is on the horizon. Please don't blame the victims here.
It's a proven fact that the Vararam comes with a bad adhesive on the gasket. It still amazes me the Vararam does not address this issue other than sending out a new gasket. But with minor cost and effort you can fix this manufacturing defect by gluing the gasket to the unit with a good adhesive. Silicone works extremely well for this purpose, that's what I recommend.

How do you fix the warp??? Its not just the gaskets. See the photo above.

Please don't blame the victims here? Sounds like your "sour grapes" rant is making you blame everyone that didn't have your same experience. I said that I understand and hope that you get it resoved. And I meant just that. I also suggested that you in fact let your salesman help you. I think there lies the help that you need. Have you tried that avenue? I certainly would. You paid him for it, correct? Anyway, good luck or maybe fill the hole with another brand.

I don't believe the warp causes air to bypass the filter, if the gasket is secured. If the gasket seals on the clean side of the filter you are fine. In other words, no dirty air is going around the warp into the engine if the gasket is sealed on the filter. Once the gasket is secured against slipping then all the air goes through the filter. You will see an indentation on the gasket showing that it is sealed. When you run it for a while you'll see dirt only on the unfiltered side. I also coat the gasket with a lithium grease just in case there is a gap. I get a good seal even with the warp.

My earlier post said that I was letting my salesman help me. He has to because Steve won't. I don't have sour grapes and I'm not sure where you are getting that from. You are defending Vararam for some reason. Its just not right to spend this much money for something that has a $1.00 gasket problem that can potentially distroy a $6,000 engine. It would have been great if Steve could have taken my address and offered to send my a set of gaskets. He didn't. He offered to sell me another top and the gaskets for "a discount". I am waiting for my salesmans help, which I'm sure I will get. I am also waiting to make a 60 mile round trip to pick up two cheap gaskets that could have been sent to me in the first place. I have no idea what you are talking about when you say "blame everyone that didn't have your same experience". And, really I don't care. I'm trough answering your BS posts. If you are happy with yours, great. I have a problem with mine and unlike you demand quality for my money. No matter where I spent it.

Thomas,
I had already pm'd you I guess while you typing this. At any rate, and as I already stated, I hope you get it resolved and soon.
Ok i called steve and he said since i bought it used he cant replace it but he could sell me the upper vaccum looking thingy lol for $75 plus $10 shipping and he will throw in the gaskets for free..... So i ordered it, because i bought it for $215 and the $85 brings it up to 300, so i kinda got a brand new unit for 300, thats the way i look at it

He is still ripping you off. The design and product is faulty and poor. The materials are poor. He should be a stand up guy and give you what was originally paid for. I havent' heard from my salesman yet and have spent a couple hours trying to re-glue the POS gaskets back into place. I can't do anything about the warp. With all the bad press on this product how can people still be buying this crap. Come on Steve, be a stand up guy and replace them for free. Mine is a gen-2 unit, it should be good. Just becasue I bought it through my dealer shouldn't mean you won't stand behind it. I'll give my salesman a few more days and see what happens.
Edit: Just spoke to my salesman. He has two calls into Steve and still waiting for a return call. At least he is trying.
