Good luck with that, and hope you didn't install it incorrectly.
Just got back from a 3,800 mile road trip in my Vette and I have a Vararam. Would you like to see some pics of my nice clean intake track and Vararam?? It performed beautifully....even at consistant 100+mph speeds (off-road of course )
Wow!!! I just spent over a half hour reading the 17 page "POS" thread. I need a break. Now to my point. I have one of these on my 08. As soon as I'm done posting here I am going to go out and check it. I have about 6500 miles on the car and wasn't aware there was a problem with these things. I think I still see them on sale by a forum vendor... reallly? One question is, can I take this thing off and re-install my OEM? I cut the plastic per the instructions and will have a big hole. Also, not having a job in 16 months is there a better CAI I can buy (dumb question) that won't cost me 2 weeks unemployment check? Suggestions? BTW, my car is not a DD so I can wait. Until then, I'm going to go pull it and check the seal.
I did run my hand around the seal portion. I see no evidence of warping or the gasket sticking out. I still have to take it apart and check the intake and MAF.
Ok ive read that post before i need to know what type of seals have people replaced it with, and i bought this used , do you think vararam will send me a upgraded one

If the upper piece of the unit is bowed and the gaskets aren't seated any longer, they will probably replace it. Call and talk to Steve. They want to make sure their customers are taken care of.
I was going to edit my post, but I have some pics to add. I just went out and took it apart after ~6500 miles. Below are the pics of a bow and the gasket movement. Lucky for me the inside (upwind) area is very clean. MAF and tube looks very clean. Back side of filter is clean. I caught it in time. It still needs attention but I am leaving on a hunting trip now (not in vette) and will be back in a couple of days. Still wondering if I shoud re-install OEM or look for a better one that won't break the bank. I'm just worried about the big hole I had to cut for the Vram.

Hey Congrats!!! That is awesome!! Sure post up some pics! I would love to see pics of one that hasn't failed! I never got to experience a "good" one as well as many others.
If it wasn't so catastrophic of turning 50K cars into dirt eaters I would find it amusing. Not that it turns Corvettes into dirt eaters, but every time one of these threads comes to the top....then somebody unaware of the problem posts new pics of a warped one.
BTW I have one of these quality pieces in the for sale section. Surely with all the vajunk lovers there is buyer somewhere? QUALITY
what have you guys used to replace the gaskets around the plastics, and where did you get it..thanks
I used epoxy to glue them in place. Have not had a problem. They should tell you this when you purchase the unit. The stickum on the foam pieces just doesn't hold. I got a replacement set of seal from Vararam when they sent me a new upper half to replace the warped bottom half. Everything has worked fine now for the past year.
I spoke to Steve this morning. He asked me where I bought mine. I told him I got it from the salesman when I bought my new C6. It was new and in a sealed box addressed to the selling dealership. Steve said I was not the original purchaser and would have to go through the dealership where I bought my car and have the salesman call Steve. This is per Steve's instruction or the best he can do is sell me a new un-warped upper and gaskets at a discounted price. Vararam only stands behind their products for the original buyer. Like I had anything to do with the bad design and the cheap plastic. I can't believe this forum is still letting them pawn these things on this site. Well, calling the dealer now I guess. Vararam....are you reading these posts????

I think they should replace it for you. They probably stopped reading the forum. Too depressing.

I was actually answering TONYBRASCO79's post about his that was warping and gaskets not seated any longer. And I merely sugested you call VR also and check with Steve. But I would contact your salesman and go from there. Let him handle it through VR, since he's the original owner. Good luck.

The point is.. what difference does it make if my salesman calls or I do? If he will replace it for the salesman that sold it to me, why not just save me the hassle and the 30 mile trip each way to pick up the replacement (if I get one)? I'm sure glad I don't have to bring my car back to the GM assembly plant for warranty repars.. after all they were the "original owners".
Remember, this was ordered by the dealer for me. Delivered to the dealer for me. Given to me by the dealer...again for me. The dealer was the "middleman" or "distributer" for me. Like getting a gallon of milk from the store and not the farmer. The store is the "middleman". If the milk is bad, I don't want to bother the cow. Now Steve has me chasing my tail. Go figure.

I understand. BTW, who did the install? You said you bought it "new" and in the box, with your new vette. Not saying that it was installed wrong, no matter who did it, but so many of the ones that have failed were installed improperly (leading to what you have experienced).
Hope you get it resolved though. There are alot of satisfied owners that do feel that it is a good product and that it delivers what it says.
