Default Help Needed, Full Interior Component LED Conversion

I do the interior C5 LED conversions for JW Motoring and we would like to offer our unique service to the C6 community as well. I replace the stock incandescent bulbs with LEDs in the color/s of your choice. here are a few examples of our work in the C5s;

Click Pic;

Full blown Red Interior;

I got a used DIC and installed Blue LEDs in it;

I need someone willingly to send me all the components in the interior for conversion and testing. So if you can stand not driving your Vette for a bit or have some scheduled downtime please let me know! I'm thinking your cost to be shipping and parts only...

I'm iffy on the Traction Control button as it's integrated into the Radio surround bezel it seems, we'll have to work somehting out on that one, I have a few ideas though.

If I had a C6 right now I would send you all of my interior pieces. All your work looks great and I hope you continue to do this for a while so that when I do get my car I can have you do it. Have you torn down the instrument cluster yet to see if it is feasible to replace the illumination with similar LED's?

Oh and also I hope this bumps this thread for you, someone help him out!

Thanx for the kind words and the bump! We don't plan on going anywhere! JW has an extremely loyal following in C5 and we'd like to expand a bit, it's a logical progression into C6, I'm saving a Blue Grand Sport!

The IPC is actually front lit by two UV (Blacklight Tubes) that are in each corner of the IPC, hence the purple glow on the Bezel Rings... When I first got into the LED thing about 3 years ago I was on a quest to convert all my interior lighting to Red and the IPC stumped me for 2 years! The best I got was by tinting a lense Red;

It looked great at night;

But was too dark during the day. Then a buddy turned me unto Speedhut, they make custom EL Glow faceplates and after a year of struggling we finally got them into production for the C5s;

There are a ton of options and colors for these. It shouldn't be hard for them to make C6 faceplates, especially if the faceplates are the same size. Someone told me they weren't but I haven't verified that yet... If they are different, then Speedhut would need a donor IPC to template off of...

The C6 IPC is front lit?? I know the C5 is, but the C6 looks like it is rear lit from what I can tell.

I actually thought about doing a C6 run, but read up about custom color gauge overlays that were produced for the C6. They had a lot of problems with the needles.

I haven't eyeballed one but from what I've seen and heard they certainly appear to be. If you get your face down in there and look in the extreme corners you should see a faint purple glopw coming form the UV tubes...

We'll have to find a solution to that, I can't run around with a White IPC when I get a C6!!!!

Might have to remove the stock faceplates and install the EL down on the backing...

Cool!!!! It certainly does appear to be rear lit, man I wish the C5 was like that! It took me over a year to get EL faceplates made for it!

Too cool! That ceratinly makes changing the IPC colors a snap...

I still can't find the picture of the bare cluster, but it shows the individual bulbs. When I find it I'll post it up!

As Tstar said, we're looking for someone to send us their DIC, HUD, TC, Heated Seat, and Window door switches to mod with leds. Contact myself if interested.

honestly more of a pain in the butt to do the conversion and a good chance of screwing it up. The led's in the switches are different from those in the c5. If memory fails me correctly they are in there own lil bulb holder and when you desolder it you tend to break them pretty easily. It'd also be something you'd need to sell as a complete replacement switch as the buttons do wear out and you don't want wore out cores coming back that you can't do anything with.

On that note would be cool to see if you can get it cost effective.
