Default LG cams? post thoughts

With reference to LS2, which cam would be recommended for max power as a DD? And where is the torque/power within each one?

G6XE?
G6X1?
G6X2-4?

Apologize if this info is in another thread, I was having trouble finding it. Also, sorry for lack of personal knowledge

Altho after install is a good indicator, might I suggest you go to either LG's site, or give them a call? They definitely will have this kind of info I would think.

Note: I went to advanced search, typed in upper left LG cam, highlighted C6 Tech. This is what I got just for a start: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/sear...rchid=11939471

It would also be interesting to see the HP/Torque plots from a dyno as well for comparison purposes.

giving a call would prob be best, but just checked the website, pretty much a simple paragraph encompassing all of them, not giving details on specific ones. Just curious if anyone could help, thanks

Which cam is best for a daily driver is completely up to the person driving the car.

We have customers all over the board from those that want something that idles like stock, to those that don't care if it idles at 2000 RPM just as long as it idles.

My personal thought is this:
Be honest with how you drive the car...do you spend most of your time in the idle to 4k RPM range, or are you 3-6k all day long?

Who drives the car?

How often do you drive it?

Looking for fun, or beating up the neighbor?

To often people get caught up in the PEAK HP dyno race and will do anything just for a number but do not pay attention to what the dyno curve actually looks like. If I was down 15 hp but made 25 ft-lbs more across the board I would have a lot more fun and probably end up with a faster car.

As always, more than happy to answer any question you might have.

No one seems to want to post even general cam specs for their cams. That would help tremendously and wouldn't realistically harm their proprietary cams. Instead, we get cams with names. Not picking on LG specifically since almost every tuner shop does it.

We are a little slow on releasing info just so others can not copy it exactly. However we do have some of our cams and their specs on our site.

I understand. But if you could state "Our X cam has a int duration of high 21- and high 22- with less than 600 lift, and 114 overlap.." that wouldn't be enough for anyone to copy, but it would help us get an idea of what we're dealing with. Right now when someone posts "Hey, I just installed the Monster v.2 cam and it drives like stock!" but we later find out it has over 240 duration we know that isn't likely true.

I can not because they don't tell me what they are, but Louis could inform you as he does do all of the cam designs.

Have any of you guys ever gone to an NHRA National or Divisional event, and asked any driver who drives a NHRA "LEGAL STOCK" car what are the spec's on his cam..

You would have a better chance of capturing "Osama Bin Liden"

They usually will say it has "Stock Lift" which it DOES have by NHRA rule... however the duration etc.. can be anything as long as the "LIFT" is still the same as the original cam...

Or in the "range" of 114 deg. yea right .. or they will say Hmmmm I really don't know I'll have to ask my engine builder!

Even better I'll pay anyone $1000 if they can get the "EXACT" spec's on the camshaft that Warren Johnson, or Mike Edwards uses in their Pro Stock car....

They should give the rough numbers on the LG web site so we don't have to call and beg for a hint at what they might be. Honestly, in this modern world most people shop that way, not by calling people but by reading information via the web. I don't know, I know I'm shouting into the wind as this seems to be a successful marketing tool acting like it's a military secret when we all know if someone wants to copy a cam all they have to do, at the most, is place an order for it, measure it, then do what they want.

Again, I'm NOT suggesting you give out lobe part numbers, but general specs and let the buyer decide, instead of obscure names that have no meaning to anyone.
