I marked the hole with my marker, the used a "center drill" first,to get hole started and on location, the bracket is only cast aluminum and drills easily. Put tape on drill to mark depth. Had mine on in 20 minutes.

Center drill.....

Nice looking cover. And priced very reasonably.

Try a self tapping screw? Mine worked fine.

The screws that came with mine from WCC were self tapping.

So I finally got the holes by using the screws provided by ACC because they were self tapping but now the holes are as big as the screws so the screws just move around in the holes. Its not stable at all. sigh

Ya' drilled the holes to big!! Get bigger screws. Or relocate slightly and drill new holes.

You could try a little piece of aluminum foil wrapped around the screw threads to make them a slight bit thicker in the holes. I sometimes use it for things, just like the white plastic tape for plastic plumbing threaded objects.

Of course, a nice chrome alternator is nicer than a cover.
