And I suspect you would rather be shooting a pre-'64 Winchester Model 70 than an AK-47 . . . . .
I love driving manual but with exhaust, 3600 stall, and drag radials you have an 11.5 car at at least 120 if it is an 08. That is moving. A built auto puts the car at a whole new level of fun.
Numbers are skewed due to ZO6 and ZR1 available only as a Manual. Numbers when a choice is given for base coupe and vert is around 70% autos.
No dog in this race. Love both and enjoy both. For anyone who has not driven a A6 and bashes it is only making a fool of themself. Same goes for a manual.
A sports car is made to be driven! An auto drives you, you drive a stick! Get it, got it, good!!! I would rather drive a car than be driven by a car! Get a stick or buy a Volvo!
I'm just playing with you guys...There are real good reasons to buy an auto, one day I may use one of the reasons and have an auto vette!

I have an A6 and love it. I actually had to sell my 2000 Camaro SS stick cause my left knee was hurting for being in traffic so much. I asked several dealers when I was looking for a Vette and asked them before I even told them what trannie I want what they sell the most of and they all said Autos by far. No surprise since this is So. California and everyone is in stop and go half the time (even on the weekends).
The A6's are only dynoing 10-15 rwhp less than the M6's. You can more than make up for 10-15 hp by not having let off the gas in between shifts in the A6. Sure you can WOT powershift the @!#^! out of a manual but that's a surefire way to have trannie problems real soon (trust me, I know from the repairs on my SS).
I'll be happy when GM finally puts a DSG type transmission into the Vette. Then the autos will dyno the same as the sticks, have much better 0-60 and quarter mile times AND not make you curse when you see brake lights on the freeway.
I love my MN6 Vette. I came from a 2004 BMW M3 which had the paddle shifters so I have had the best of both worlds. When running on the track or going hard into any turn, there id no better feeling that having both hands on the wheel. The car shifted amazingly quick and I didn't have to deal with a clutch pedal in traffic. With that said, I did feel a lot less in control when I was shifting with the paddles, which is why I got the Corvette in stick. Plus, there is no better feeling that rowing through the gears, or a perfect rev-matched downshift in my opinion

All car companies have to make cars that are for girls no??

So well said. Only a fool would bash either tranny as they both have pro's & con's.

Or SHORT
I always love these types of threads. It tells me that most of you guys are well "short". Those of us over 6'5" can't shift into 1st without smashing are right knee because our right knee can't fit under the steering wheel.
I rather be 6'6" and drive a Auto Vette that be 5'6' and drive a manual Vette. LOL
PS. I also have a convertible too so my head doesn't hit the inside of the roof like in a Z06. Kinda uncomfortable to keep leaning my head to right while driving all the time. For whatever reason, even with the ragtop up I have plenty of head room.

the only dumb discussions are the ones with no winners do to both sides being right,,,,,,this would be one of said discussions of course making it personal means that person would be wrong and a loser or more then one sense of the word
No offense to you macho manual guys but get with it already. There was a great little article in Automobile magazine last month that gave the nod to auto's over manual which included a pretty good list of why they are better. I can say one of the reasons was the improved auto's are shifting faster than any person could do in a manual (including their professional drivers) and NO chance of blowing a trans because of a missed gear. Not to mention that Ferrari and Lamborghini have pretty much stopped making manual cars and they are the "Gods" of sports cars.
Personally I rather have my auto because anyone from Illinois knows that our state flower is the orange construction cone.
No offense to anyone that has an auto. If that's what floats your boat, all the power to you. I drive a manual because I think it's the pure driving experience. I like having control over the gears, and it's just more fun. I don't need a computer to do the shifting for me. I don't really see the joy in bragging about being faster off the line if the car is doing it for you.
And as for Ferrari and Lamborghini, they both continue to offer traditional manuals on their cars. But cats who can afford to drop $250,000 (or more) on a car tend to want top-of-the-line F1 technology. And the sequential manuals offered on exotic cars are not true automatics. They are a world away from the traditional autos with paddle shifters available on mass-produced cars.
Again, I'm not hating. I'd never buy a sports car with an automatic transmission but if that's what you like enjoy it. A Corvette's a Corvette.

So you like playing with a stick, and last ive seen my car doesnt drive itself I acully have to be in the car O and you call the extra step of releasing the clutch to launch the car being more in control good for you.

Lol I love this forum. Some people just can't have an intelligent conversation without taking things personally and throwing spears.
In my area I have noted for years that on the used market the manual box is in higher demand
Thats unusual, because at auction (Which dealers have to resort to if they don't want to sell on their lot) used autos go for more than manuals. The reality on used is the market is greater if you have a auto, in general the majority of buyers will go for a auto (Considering male and female buyers)
